If you look at our current team, cornerback is where we are lacking the most. All of our other position groups are average to excellent.
- Dline, I would say would be excellent. Q. Williams is supposed to be the next coming of R. White and hopefully he will be. This is exactly what L. Williams was supposed to be. He didn't turn out that way but he is an above average dline man. With the addition of Q, that should help Leonard out greatly. Anderson isn't chopped liver and the rest of our dline can pretty much hold their own.
- LB core appears to be above average to excellent as well. Mosely takes it over the top. Williamson is very formiable and he was our leader last year. The addition of Polite will hopefully be the edge rusher we needed. Jenkins, Luvu and Copeland can more then hold their own.
- Safeties are above average, Adams is a monster and there is a drop off with Maye but not by much (as long as Maye can stay healthy.) Miles and Middleton are ok I guess.
- QB are above average (hopefully), we all know this depends on Darnold second year growth/development and Gase guru teaching. Is Gase really what they say he is?
- RBs are above average to excellent. Nothing to say about Bell but top notch future HOFer. Major drop off to the others but they can hold their own.
- Oline is atleast average. The addition of Oseleme helps greatly and they drafted a tackle. We may not be as bad as we think here.
- WR core is above average. Nobody special but Enunwa, Anderson and Crowder very formiable. IMO, unless they sign someone else that can step in and contribute pretty big it will be Burnett that will be the key to making this core special. His production will help the other three greatly, IF he can do it.
- TE core is average to above average. Herndon has the ability to be special. Tomlinson, Brown and Stering aren't anything worth talking about, so this pretty much come down to the rookie Wesco. Pretty apparent that when the Jets cut thT Wesco will have to step in that spot.
Which leads us to our cornerbacks:
- CB core is horrid pretty much and what are they going to do to fix it? T. Johnson isn't a number #1 guy and doesn't appear to be worth the money, AT ALL! Roberts and Poole are below average. Our only hope is the younger guys stepping up. Clark, Jones and Nickerson, what are you going to do??? The rookie they drafted probably won't play this year so we can't count on him.
If the Jets let anything fall by the waist side this off season, it was the cornerbacks. They at least signed, traded for or drafted a few oline men and WRs.
