So we're all excited about the new players that were brought in by the lousy former, fired by the coach, gm who sucks and knows nothing and we hate him and we're glad he's gone. Only in Jetland

Well Mac bought some really great players. He just couldn't draft many.

I disagree. He's gone now and we can write him off. But the fact is, he assembled this team that we are excited about. There's plenty of work to do, but wr are in a position to put darnold in a place to win games.

He's drafted some future jet greats, and some busts. But he drafted, signed, and traded for a fantastic base for this team to move forward with, and without putting us in cap hell. No, mac isn't bellicheck or parcels, but he fixed the idzik mess, and put us in the best roster/ cap position since Parcells retired.

Leonard Williams, Q, polite, Adams, maye
Darnold, Snell, Herndon
Undrafted, Robby Anderson
Traded for fitzmagic and Marshall.
Signed CJ Moseley, bell, trumaine

He won executive of the year, assembled the best offense in jets history, landed our first franchise qb since namath, assembled a dam good defense to play opposite darnold, play makers around him, and put together 6-10 potential pro bowlers on this year's roster. This year and next would have shown the fruit of his labor as he addressed o line and cb.

We owe mac some respect.

So in year 6, Mac would have finally addressed the OL which is the most important unit on a team? If he didn't suck at drafting then maybe he could have built the OL. I like Bell and CJ, but he overpaid for CJ and Tru. Mac was fired because he was abysmal after the #6 pick and because he hates the OL. I will give him credit for taking players that fell in his lap, getting Darnold and not destroying the cap. There is a different attitude with the Jets and a big reason is because he is gone.

I said on here from day one with mac, it was a five year rebuild along with exhausting every option to get a franchise qb.

Our roster was devoid of talent at almost every position, and there were no depth players. O line doesn't matter when everyone else sucks. Mac did address the o line. If you think drafting o line in the first round with the 6th pick was a smart move you're mistaken.

Now we have a QB to build a line around. You have limited resources in the NFL, every team has deficient positions that they have to play around.

If trumaine turns this season around into something more like his average year, all we need heading into next season is 2 offensive linemen and one cb between free agency and the draft. That's a great position to be in. And if we get those 3 guys, we will have a top 10 team that will compete every year.

We're here, the team is taking shape, and we are 2 or 3 pieces away from making some big time waves. That's a successful 5 year rebuild.

do you believe another franchise at some point will give maccagnan chance as a GM again?? if he does, i'd have to admit you're on to something..

i will say he's definitely got a better chance than coach bowles has of being an NFL HC again, because some chance is better than no shot at all..

I don't know honestly. For me, mac is a tweener. He did take a bottom 2 is the league roster, and made them into a top 10 team in 5 years. Along the way there was excitement during the rebuild, to keep fans interested. He wasn't perfect, he didn't suck. What factors were in play that we don't know?

The structure was flawed, and he was stuck with Bowles. If he picked his own coach, we'd have a better read on him.

Mac also is not a self promoter, so who knows if that is an issue with him getting rehired. Hey, tannenbaum was made president of the dolphins.

The problem with Mac is that he was drafting in a vacuum, in other words selecting who he wanted and not necessarily good fits for the coach. At least thats what I have heard and read, and obviously I don't know that for a fact. You can say what you want about Bowles, and I was very critical of him, but he was hamstrung by MMac. He was given players (after the first round) who he didn't necessarily want. The HC and GM have to be on the same page, if not you get the sort of production out of a majority of your picks like we did.
