To me, the wrong answer here, if you didn't know about order of operations would be 70.
The other mistake would be , not seeing the multiplication sign (x) since all other operations are addition, in which case you would add all 3 and get 17
not sure where these other wrong answers came from.
I was a math major for half my college career, a long, long time ago. 4 semesters of calculus was not fun

If I knew that, you'd be reading about a Mega Millions winner from southeastern Connecticut.
Just remember, if you buy into the multiverse theory, there is a universe out there where the Jets win every single game, including the Super Bowl, every single year.

Yeah, I'm not sure either. I can see mistakenly doing the addition before the multiplication and ending up with 70. Wrong, but understandable. And I can see missing the multiplication sign.
Not sure where some of the others come from.

Thanks, though I really didn't do anything to achieve it. I was just born this way. I did do some prep for the GREs, but mostly it was a genetics deal.
The Ph.D. in History was hard work, though. A decade of classes, exams, prospectuses (prospecti?), and the dissertation writing and defense? Massively painful.
Maybe I can land a job in the Jets' front office. I did play in both high school and college against Hymie Elhai, SVP, one of the few guys who reports directly to Chris Johnson. Perhaps he remembers me. Then again, probably not.

My wife just finished her doctorate in Nursing quality. It was an insane amount of work. she Just graduated a few weeks back at UConn. She's smarter then me. I'm working on my Ph.D in beer drinking and it is also an incredible amount of work but very enjoyable. My bachelor's degree in beer drinking was much easier. I'm getting too old for it:global (10):

I finished my doctorate just over four years ago. Now I teach at practically every college in the northeast. It's a living, but a busy one.
And send her all kinds of congratulations. She deserves it. Congrats to you, too. I've seen what spouses of doctoral students/candidates endure. It is a total team effort.

Sounds busy, but good for you. Getting that doctorate was a ton of hard work. Even for a mensa guy I'm betting.

Ton of work. And I taught throughout the whole process. So doing it and holding down part-time faculty duties was brutal.
And we had our one son in the middle.

That's actually true and I know it is. It's a controversial topic most intellectuals try to avoid for a variety of reasons, mostly for how it can be misused by people with bad intentions, but I know it's a fact that IQ is largely genetic. But still, that doesn't make it any less impressive. :global (42):

My father worked for a couple decades as a lineman for the power company, then started his own business, with my mother running the business side. They made it quite successful, but it's not like I was the child of a Princeton law professor and a CEO or something. A lot has to do with opportunity, and they gave me tremendous opportunities, beyond those they had.
