even if this is only ends up being a one year, this is a rock solid move by douglas..
exciting stuff..
yeah, to sign a starter durning training camp is exciting stuff..I’m definitely excited. Strapped as we were with no 2nd round pick, our long term answer to finding a starting caliber center was just out of reach. Great job by Joe Douglas to lure Kalil out of retirement.
Nice to have a GM that understands the importance of the OL.
I'm guessing they will use him to tutor Harrison while he's here so he can re-retire soon but while he's here what a boost to the "O" line.
If all goes well with Kalil, I could see two years from him. He may want to stay for year three of Darnold really hitting his stride.

I could see that happening also providing he can stay healthy and the team does well. No one comes out of retirement to go down with a sinking ship, not that I think this is a sinking ship. In fact I'm feeling really optimistic about this upcoming season, but, you know what I mean. He must feel pretty optimistic himself or he wouldn't have signed with the Jets to begin with.
This is what is really odd to me. Why come to a team with a history like the Jets and to a division where you have to win 12 games minimum to have a chance at the division title? With a new coaching staff and GM that are all unproven and a young QB who really hasn't done anything yet? Wouldn't Carolina have given him the same money or close? Weird
Maybe because he believes that Sam Darnold is the real deal, and the Jets are heading in the right direction, after landing players like LeVeon Bell, Mosley, Crowder, and Osemele. Carolina signed Paradis, so Kalil going back to Carolina wasn’t going to happen. He was still retired in March. Sometime after FA is when he started getting the desire to play again, and Douglas apparently was very persuasive.
That's right. I forgot Carolina got Paradis
He’s official. Kalil is signed and weighing in at 297. Says he’s in great shape, but may need some time to get into “football shape”. He said he realized back in March that he still wanted to play, and that he’s definitely got something left.
