What does this have to do with Gase trading Lee? I could understand if linebackers on the Jets got hurt but this is a different team, SO!!!

Please tell me you are joking. You don't understand how a trade or trade value works?

If we assume that gase traded Lee for the best offer, we know Kansas city have us a6th rounder next year. I think Lee was much more valuable to the jets playing this year than a very late 6th rounder next year.

Every year teams get a lot of injuries in the pre season. Having a starting, young, 1st round lb, would have gotten a much better return this time of the year.

The Jaguars are now down 2 linebackers, you don't think they would trade a much better pick right now for a starter?

gase, obviously is not a fan of lee & got rid of him for a bag of rocks.. quickly.. i have no problem with that.. he had no use for the guy in his program.. apparently the rest of the league didn't feel motivated to swoop in when gase started & ended the brief fire sale..

I was willing to give Lee three years to prove himself, and I’m much more lenient than the average Jets fan.

Too much inconsistency from Lee. He was generally graded out as a mid-late first rounder, exactly where we took him, but he didn’t establish himself as a difference maker. A player taken that high has to be a starter. Lee didn’t help himself with some stuff off the field, either.

We weren’t getting anything better than a 6th for Lee, even from a desperate team like JAX. He’s going to be an underachiever in this league. He’s not a special player. He’s an average player. We’ve got that type of player in Neville Hewitt.

Ok, now I see where you getting at and I get it! Here's the thing, there is never any guarantees on who will get injured and what the market would have been for Lee at this point or during the pre-season. Now logic or safe assumptions will tell you that there will be injuries and Lee value would have gone up around this time but once again, there were no guarantees in that, so maybe Gase just wanted to be done with the Lee situation. Maybe he wanted to see what Polite or some of these other LBs could do without Lee taking up any playing time. I felt Gase should have gotten more for Lee in the first place but obviously that's all he could get at that time. So Lee's value was a garage sale at that time but it wasn't like Gase called the Chiefs and other teas and said give me a sixth rounder and you can have him. I'm sure he asked for more but his value wasn't worth anything. With the Jaquars LBs now down, would his value be higher with them, I would think so but none of us has a crystal ball and can see in the future, so it is what it is.

There was obviously something very polarizing about Lee or else he'd still be here. I'm sure GWilliams would have found some way to use him properly. I'm reading and hearing that Gase and Douglas are all about the room, and me first guys aren't welcome. I realize JD wasn't GM yet, but obviously Gase didn't think it was worth keeping Lee around any longer and cut bait. If he thought Lee would be more of a distraction than a benefit for the possibility of a higher return then it was the right move.

the guy the jags just lost was a guy they signed in late april after he was cut by the niners

i'd have to think that if the jags had an interest in lee, they would have inquired after the jets signed mosley and everyone knew lee was without a position.
