Pains me to say it, but I have a feeling a lot of people are going to owe Dave Gettleman an engraved apology, myself included.

I'm not putting the kid in Canton after a few drives in the preseason, but he looks like an NFL QB to me, with a chance to be a good one.

If he does then the Giants will be set for 10 plus years with Jones, Barkley and Engram. Wouldn’t want to see that shit at all because that could be (A REAL IF HERE) a SB caliber nucleus there. Not to say we don’t have that but besides Darnold and Herndon just turning 22 and 23, who else do we have on offense in that age range that we can say is a 10 year SB caliber nucleus? We have the defense for that in Adams, Q and hopefully Polite (if he turns to be anything worth talking about). Notice I didn’t mention Bell or Mosely because they are a bit older. So will they fit into that 10 year SB winning nucleus I’m talking about, I doubt it.

I know some Jets fans hate the Giants, but the Daniel Jones pick looks pretty smart right now. Gettleman got roasted for that pick, and Jones is putting the ball in tight spots and showing very good arm strength. He needs to improve his ball skills as far as fumbles, but that’s a correctable issue. Sam had that problem a little bit at USC, and it doesn’t appear to be as much of an issue for him now.

There’s still more to see, like real NFL games, but Jones has passed the tests so far. He could replace Eli a lot sooner than we originally thought.

So that means the Giants could have drafted two projected better players then Jones and still got him on day two. For example, let’s say Josh Allen and the CB they actually drafted or a premiere oline men on day one and then drafted Jones on day two in the second or maybe third round.

So the Giants might have had a chance of drafting two or three players and still getting Jones anyway. The only way Jones justifies that # 6 pick is by winning multiple regular season MVPs, multiple SBs and multiple SB MVPs and becoming a bonafide first ballot HOFer, which Eli is not. Yes Eli has won multiple SBs and he will be a HOFer but he’s not a regular season MVP or a first ballot HOFer. Not in my opinion anyway.

You guys do realize it is a joke. Jones has been taking the field with starters and playing against 2nd and third string defenses lol. He is terrible. Geno also looked good in preseason - anyone remember how that one turned out? Jones is worse his numbers in college and his division make him one of hte worst college QB's in his class. Wait until he takes the field - disaster. Why do you think ownership is pushing for Eli to play all year long lol. It is that bad.

Against us, he played with starters and we pulled all our 1st string and half our second string guys when he took the field - next thing they are saying he is amazing because he can lead a first team offense against our scrubs to get a TD lol give me a .break. Nothing against the kid but I hope he and the Giants fall flat on their faces. He’s looked all world in preseason but that’s with his starters against the opponents 2nd and 3rd team players. We’ll see if he can do the same come real game time this year because Eli won’t carry the Giants all year. Eli will fail them by week 6-8. So the kid better get ready to play by then because his preseason play has definitely put the pressure on the front office to get him on the field this year and on Eli to play top notch ball all year or it’s a wrap for him.

And he’s got the arm for the Meadowlands winter weather. Don’t listen to the pundits. They’re all backpedaling because they trashed the pick. They’re trying to save face. And now they’re having to admit that Gettleman might’ve been right.

Jones has big upside. And it doesn’t matter if he went to Duke or Alabama. If a guy can sling it, that’s all that matters.
