OK, let me be the barer of possibly bad news. People with mono take 2 to 4 weeks, on average, for their symptoms to subside. Sam being a well conditioned athlete might fall into the 2 week group. Then it's a matter of how long it takes him to get back in shape. That's the good news. Now for the bad. The medical staff has to, for the benefit for the team, address the contagious aspect of the disease which is typically 3 months and often is up to 18 months after his symptoms have dissipated. I'm not guessing here gang. This is a medical reality, and yes, I have the background to know. So...........when will he be allowed to take the field again ? It could be a very long time. Just be prepared to support Trevor for awhile and cross your fingers a lot.
I'm not worried. Siemian will perform better than Darnold would have, anyway...

when I was young, I had a record that said it had mono right on it and it played every day just fine. Eventually I replaced it with a cd
Ok, damn, fuck and WOW! I figured it would take about 6-7 weeks for a full recover including regaining full strength and weight but wow. Are you saying this can be a season long thing because they might have to keep him away from the team?
Right. He could be well enough physically to play in 8 weeks or so, and I stress could be, but they must also be sure he is no longer contagious and that's something different entirely.
Damn, what are we doing as Jets fans? What have we done so wrong to deserve this? This shit is ridiculous!
The team has announced that they believe he will miss between 3 and 7 games. I think they are being conservative maybe in an effort to not rile the fans too much with all the other injuries that have hit us as well. But at least they are in the ball park and to reply to your second question it's just typical Jets luck. Most of us l-o-n-g time fans, those that have supported the team since their very beginning, have learned to cope with the adversity by having other activities to partially distract us.
Yeah it’s time ALREADY to start focusing on WWE, NBA and a few TV shows I love to watch.

Damn, you actually believe that? Are you saying that because you think he’s more experienced and grounded in Adam Gase offense or he’s just a better QB?
Darnold returned to the facility today. Likely to be ready to play after the bye week.
If that is the case I hope he’s at full strength and his all his weight back. Last thing we need is he gets injured because he’s not 100% healthy and ready to go. Also not having his full strength and weight can truly effect his throwing ability. Truly essential that he doesn’t rush this. I’d rather he sit the entire year if need be then rush and mess himself up even more. Season is shot anyway so what difference does it make.
He lost 2 pounds total. Mono affects everyone differently. Most were giving the most extreme scenarios. The majority of people don't even know they have mono and get over it without knowing. If he didn't also have strep throat, the mono likely would never have been detected. He says the worst thing now is feeling 100% and not being able to burn the energy.
sit him all year? For what? Stunt his development? He's being held out now as a precautionary measure to make sure his spleen is not enlarged. That's generally during the first 3 weeks of infection and ocours in just over 50% of people with mono.
Once he's cleared to play, he's cleared to play.
