Darnold does look a little shell shocked - but for any QB playing under this much duress the past two games, that would be true. It's been a disaster. Plus, he has a thumb injury on his throwing hand - so that doesn't help either.

Look guys - you heard Douglas say it - Darnold is a franchise QB. He's right when he said look at the Dallas game. I was there. He was brilliant. Played almost a flawless game - one bad throw. He made every throw imaginable - touch passes, deep bombs, out routes, back shoulders, screens, throws into very tight windows, anticipation throws, throws on the move. You saw it all. It was really impressive. Now, he needs to be more consistent, but his skill set is right at the top of the league in terms of the young QBs. He just needs help - an o-line that can actually block, an offensive game plan that protects him until they can, a running game, and a #1 WR.

Maybe we should give this baby a bottle...….this is the NFL.....yes he needs support & we keep going back to Dallas...one game lol. He has great tools but he needs to get better like the guy that shares the stadium with him & has a blue uniform. Will he???? I hope so but I am tired of this Sam needs this, & Sam needs that...…..Jim brown said just give me the dam ball. So did Jim Thorpe. Right now & in the past "Sammy" was/is a turnover machine. So yes just like the Big M in Arizona I hope they become the big two in the NFL...….For now I have a mickey mouse band-aid for his little thumb that has a boo-boo.

Shotgun -quick out
Under center -2 steps though slant
Shotgun drop back - screen to Bell / Ty
Shotgun -draw to Bell
Under center - Ty quick out
Shotgun - floater up sideline to Robbie
Under center 1 step - comebacker to crowder
Undercenter - off tackle Powell
Shotgun slant to Griffey
Punt if nothing works
Play field position
Play defense

Rinse repeat the whole game
Sam comes out with no sacks
It should be a close game
Lose
You don't look pathetic
It's really basic common sense football for the kid and the shit you have Adam

I think you are being unduly harsh on the kid. I get we're all frustrated after the past two weeks, but you don't give up on a player with his talent because of a couple of bad games - particularly under the circumstances I mentioned. There is a history of players who started their careers with bad offensives their first couple of season who went on to HOF careers despite terrible numbers - both Mannings, Aikman, Steve Young, Favre all come to mind. And btw - Darnold isn't complaining about his injury, he's a tough kid. I'm just laying out the facts as I see them objectively. It could have some effect, perhaps minor, but some effect on his ability to throw with velocity or with accuracy at times. Playing QB is a position of precision - like pitching. You get out of your slot just a little bit and the pitch is high. You get your grip wrong and you throw it in the dirt.

In terms of your comparisons to Jim Brown and Jim Thorpe - they were running backs for most of their careers. So that's an unfair comparison. This is the modern NFL. The players are bigger, stronger and faster than they ever have been. You have guys who are 275 pounds that run 4.5 forties. It's completely different. If you're a QB and those guys don't get blocked, you have no chance.

Ok Kilmer & Tarkington Manning (new) ...this is over more then two weeks...….& some mention Dallas on the good side this year that is only one week,. I have not said he won't make it but as of today He is not anything special. I do agree he could be great but how many talented guys are out there that never make it to greatness, Scipio spinks, Richard todd, Lee Brosscup, carl barzaolkus (SP), Sam Walton etc etc etc....lets wait before we put roses around his neck. We may be putting them on his NFL Grave first.

if they don't get him high college level blocking at least, those roses will be for his grave. Keep this in mind, the kid has the gambler's mentality - he's more like Favre in that regard so his constant inner battle will be to learn when to hold the ball. Watching his struggles last year early, he was trying to make every play and it backfired. After the injury he was a changed player with more discretion and patience. Go to game 1 this year - there was measurable growth in that game despite modest numbers. The plays weren't there yet he didn't force things and should've won. Fast forward to Dallas and you see more of the same. Since that point, the pressure in the pocket has been ridiculous and he is reverting back to his instincts. It will be tough for him to do that as long as he remains under siege. He has the talent to be very good, but he'll never get there under the present conditions.

as for Gase.....he should only be an OC. The HC job is too large in scope for him and it's taking away from his needed focus on the offense. If he is to survive, he will need to get himself an OC. Frankly I don't believe he is a good enough HC to warrant all that - they really need to just punt him.

One more point on Darnold's injury, it looks like a sprained left thumb. He's playing, but needs to wear a splint. Shouldn't impact his throwing motion at all, just receiving the snap from center.

If you are going to look at all the bad weeks, then you have to do the same with all of the good weeks. And played exceptionally well at the end of the season last year too. If you are really being honest - it's a mixed bag so far for sure. But you can't evaluate him fairly under the current circumstances. And he is a gambler like Seaver said - so we're going to have live with some bad throws at times. But he'll also make some tremendous plays that can win games. Let's just see what happens when the kid has the players around him to win...until then, he just needs to learn from these mistakes.

That is the question will he learn? Plus in the end you can't have many bad weeks each year...50/50 does not cut it in this league. Lets hope for the best but get the life boats ready just in-case

Have 2 agree @butterscotch. Youngings ain't like we were. We played outside, made our own fun, got hurt, etc... Now unless they play sports or farm or the like, they spend to much time building up the finger muscles... Even then...

But there is a good reason for all of these freak injuries

Last year out with foot injury: From kicking the water cooler after one of many INTs.
This year mono : from kissing the coaches butt
Toe nail : from dropping a football on it that was over-inflated
Ghosts: Hey this may be real I hear Weeb walks the halls
Now splint on thumb: From swatting at the ghosts
