We all know Rex was sabotaged between the Tebow experience and the WR situation with Tannenbaum and then Idzik. People were also on him because he was focused on offense. But the joke of it all was Rex was a true HC - he brought in OC's that he thought could manage that side of the ball. Exhibit A Greg Roman - the same OC baltimore currently has who has managed to outsmart the patriots last night running out of the pistol.

Rex's biggest problem was Sanchez was mediocre on his best day and his GM's were garbage.

We had some let downs - but the team always recovered and played hard most of the season. Also dont forget the last 3 years of Rex he played without any secondary (safeties and CB's)

I respect that you like Rex and how he coached the team. Personally, I think Rex coasted the last three years. And I will never forgive him or our D for that second AFCCG in Pittsburgh. Jesus Christ, we were down like 30 points before I had my first beer. No one could tackle, awful game plan, etc. That's on Rex. Again, no thanks.

Rex Ryan is no doubt a better HC than both Bowles and Gase combined......but that's not really saying much.

It looks like we just want to remember better times, but Rex had some of the most undisciplined teams ever and even members of his own coaching staff.....anyone remember the tripping incident?

On top of that, Ryan really Sabotaged himself by personally picking, and then sticking with a QB who he says now he knew all along Sanchez wasn't going to be a franchise QB. WTF?.....What a clown.

Even when Idzik came in, Rex still had HIS defensive draft picks. Rex mostly sabotaged himself......he is a twice failed HC....No thanks!

Fans complain about the lack of discipline under Bowles, and then the same under Gase. And some of the same fans want Rex back? He was the king of undisciplined football. There was no accountability under him.

Especially from the second AFCCG forward, watching Rex' teams became frustrating and maddening. Saddest part of your post is that Rex was the second best HC since Supe III. Man, have we been saddled with a bunch of clowns, fools, and genuinely inept people over the years.

I will correct your post: One guy who literally said he wanted no other job but as HC of the NY Jets is Mike McCarthy. And true to form, the schmucks in management told him no thanks, we've got our guy, Adam Gase. I nearly whipped a table into a wall when I heard this last year. Only this cluster fuck of a franchise would turn down a great Super Bowl winning HC/QB teacher/future HOF recipient for a failed Miami HC who just got fired. But not before carpet bombing that franchise and owner.

after the 2 championship games the team was sabotaged for whatever reason. Rex wasn't perfect, that's for sure but he wanted to beat belichick as much as I want to beat belichick. most other guys would rather bow down to belichick accept the loss and look to the next week

Not that we can get any of these guys other than Rex, but John Harbaugh would be my #1 choice. after that I'd take Kyle Shanahan because his father could show him how to beat belichick or since he's out there, but we blew him off last year, Mike McCarthy

Yeah, you're probably right. No coach is perfect (I'm sure guys had problems with even Bill Walsh). But I will guarantee that what has transpired this year would not have happened under McCarthy's watch.

If you're just looking at it from a point of occasionally beating Belichick, then yea, Rex makes sense as 2nd best, but overall, I think I will give second best to Parcells, and Rex third.

Parcells is one of only 2 Jet HC's with a winning record....

I here ya. I was 3 in 1969 so if I didn't say it , I meant to say, of the coaches that I remember Parcells is #1
