Woody set up this stupid structure where the GM and coach are on the same level, with both reporting to him. He had to massage his ego and/or delude himself into believing that he knew enough about football to make the right decisions. He could brag to his friends at his country club about his toy. Why would any decent GM prospect accept this arrangement? The only reason that Douglas came here was because of his friendship with Gase. Let’s not forget that Woody’s imminent ownership was largely responsible for Belichick’s resignation. For those who say that Woody was not a meddler, who was it that insisted that Revis should be re-signed to his exorbitant contract?
As for Christopher, we all see what he has done. I do like the hiring of Douglas, but that should have been done BEFORE free agency and the draft ! Also, It is disgraceful that he bypassed his GM and his coach by reaching out to JaME Adams. He should have insisted that Adams talk to Gase and Douglas first. Oh, I forgot: by interceding, Chris could feel important and be able to brag to his country club buddies, just as Woody did. Again, after Douglas, why would any decent GM prospect ever apply to come here?
