The Jets have penned another potentially messy chapter to this miserable season.
The Daily News has learned that former quarterback Luke Falk has filed an injury grievance through the NFL Players Association against Gang Green less than a month after getting cut. Falk started two games before he was dumped the day before the Jets’ Week 6 win against the Cowboys. He has a hip injury that requires surgery, per sources.
Falk is the second player to file a grievance against the Jets in the past three weeks.
The organization is already embroiled in an ugly situation with former offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele, who was cut after undergoing shoulder surgery that was not authorized by the team. Osemele, who was fined for not practicing in pain, filed a grievance a couple weeks ago with the NFLPA to recoup lost wages.
Falk completed 64.4 percent of his passes in three appearances in relief of Sam Darnold and Trevor Siemian. He was sacked nine times against Philly after having just one day to fully practice.
Adam Gase’s decision to give Darnold the first-team practice reps during the week backfired when the quarterback was not medically cleared to play following his bout with mononucleosis. Falk was scapegoated when he was cut five days after losing to the Eagles.
Falk was not listed on the injury report in the run-up to the Philly game or during the week he was ultimately cut.
From poor play on the field to questionable decisions off it, the 1-7 Jets have had a rough season. The Jets were not immediately available for comment.
