Christopher Johnson to remain patient with coach Adam Gase

Despite the public unrest amongst some New York Jets fans and the repeated calls for coach Adam Gase's job, team owner Christopher Johnson is expected to remain patient, per sources familiar with his thinking. Circumstances always could change, but ownership is not inclined to make any head-coaching moves.

The Jets are eight games in, with eight games left, and the team will not rush to any decisions, even if their fans seem to have made one on Gase. Furthermore, Gase and GM Joe Douglas -- who was brought in to upgrade the roster and provide stability -- have had only five months together without a full offseason. The Jets believe the situation will sort itself out.

A segment of the Jets' fan base on social media wants Gase fired, the sooner the better, but the team is not inclined to acquiesce to those wishes at this time, as the New York Daily News also reported. It still wants to judge Gase over a larger body of work than half the season, one that has been plagued with injuries.

The Jets signed running back Le'Veon Bell in the offseason to pair with quarterback Sam Darnold, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 draft. But after a one-point loss to the Bills in Week 1, Darnold missed the next three games, all losses, with mononucleosis. The Jets (1-7) defeated Dallas in his return on Oct. 13, but are currently in the midst of a three-game losing streak.

The chatter surrounding Gase is reminiscent of the situation with the Cowboys earlier this season, when fans were calling for coach Jason Garrett's job before the team won two games in a row and quieted some of that talk. The Jets are hoping to do the same.

I usually take the Johnsons side on HC and GM because they will spend money for players even though spent on wrong players with scamming millions is main factor. But not this time! Gaise is a mistake! Just like Mike Macs Drafts are the worst Ive ever seen in over 50 years. Give new GM a shot to Draft a QB next Draft in the first round! I dont want to wait any more on QB we all can see is not even as good as Sanchez or Jones who in first year. That game really showed how3 far back Darnold is compared to Jones in skill! Impressive Jones 300yds and 4TDs with Darnold barely mustard up 200 yds and 1 TD. Big deal is no INTs. So Johnson needs to get rid of Gaise and get rid of Mikey Macs QBs that are always wrong and Draft a QB with new coach starting over.

Jones didn't have guys draped all over him all day like Darnold does every single game. Nor do you mention that the Jets CB's are some of the worst in the league. Jones is a way bigger turnover machine than Darnold. He gets the ball just taken from his hands which never happens. If you draft a QB with our top 5 pick you will be saying the same thing next year because we won't be addressing a bigger need which is WR and OL. Darnold made some impressive throws. Jones had lots of YAC because of the poor tackling of the Jets. Saying Darnold is not even is as good as Sanchez is either a little over the top even for me. None of the QB's next year that will be available when we pick are worth a top 5 pick IMO. Take OL or WR. Why would you want to ruin another QB with this awful HC and even worse OL?

This year is a complete wash for Darnold as far as I'm concerned. He got derailed by the HC and then mono which I fully believe has contributed to some of his lackluster performances. I have coached kids for years and seen many HS and college age soccer players get mono and they took a year until they returned to form. Nobody will say it during the year, but I think he lost a ton of strength like most do from mono. It might explain why he starts out strong and then things cool off the rest of the game. I could be wrong, but there is no way I take the 3rd or 4th best QB over a top WR or OL. Build the team (mainly offense) and give Darnold another year or two and don't reach for a Tua Mariota type QB. That way if Darnold fails we will be ready for the next QB in a couple years.

Um, Jones fumbled twice, including having the ball snatched right out of his hands. One chunk of his yardage came on a screen pass and another came on a short pass over the middle on which the secondary Parted like the Red Sea. Those plays were two of his tds, if I remember correctly. If you hate Sam, that’s fine, but to say that no interceptions is no big deal is absurd.

Watching Jones yesterday, one thing was as clear as day: The kid holds the ball too long and does not feel the rush well. There must have been 10 times yesterday (at least) when if you were a Giants' fan you'd have screamed "THROW/DUMP THE BALL!" No doubt he has talent. But unless he fixes this there will be tons of frustrating days ahead for the Giants.
