Gase publicly and privately threw his offensive line under the bus too many times to count this season, but it’d be reckless for Douglas to start over with five new faces in the trenches. That’s simply not smart business. Beachum, a respected leader and effective player, has been a solid piece to a unit that has fared much better in the second half of the season despite some moving parts. The smart move would be to bring back Beachum, who made $8 million this season, on a fair deal before drafting a tackle. Play the rookie on the right side in 2020 before potentially sliding him to the left in 2021 (depending on how Beachum performs).

It’s convenient to paint a picture that none of Gang Green’s linemen were any good this season. Smart coaches design plays to accentuate their quarterback and offensive line’s strengths. Bringing back Beachum, whose started all 32 games in his first three seasons before playing in pain and missing just three games with ankle injuries this year, makes sense.

Good plan G. I don't believe he is suited for the left tackle position really and I've always said that but on the other hand I have to give him credit. He is an asset as a leader, as you mention. and the most qualified guy on the team at this time to play that position and he has played pretty well this season especially considering he has been playing with two bad ankles. So, again, I like your plan.

If the Jets are going to spend cap space on a tackle, I'd rather sign a Jack Conklin, an excellent RT, and draft a LT. At 11, the Jets should still be able to land one of the top pure LTs in this draft.

What I would do with the line is keep Harrison at C, but revamp elsewhere. Harrison is popular with the unit, he has good chemistry with Sam, and he has developed better than most give him credit for. Sign Conklin for RT and Joe Thuney at LG to help out a rookie, draft a Jackson or Wilfs (assuming Thomas is gone) for LT, and slide Edoga to RG. Hold onto Lewis for depth at G, especially in case Edoga doesn't transition well.

So, two signings and a pick, and you have left to right:

LT: Jackson/Wilfs
LG: Thuney
C: Harrison
RG: Edoga
RT: Conklin

That is both a feasible and a legit good OL. With Beachum either coming off the books or coming back cheaper for depth and Lewis providing depth at G, the upgrade is huge without costing massive cap space. Good balance of veteran leadership and youth on both sides.
