So we all have heard/read the rumors of what players the team will target but what if they sign all these guys:

Re-Sign Beachum modest 1 year deal
Re-Sign Alex Lewis to be depth for both Guard Spots

Sign Joe Thuney to be the Left Guard
Sign Brandon Scherff to be the Right Guard
Sign Jack Conklin to be the Right Tackle
Sign Cody Whitehair to be the Center

Currently under contract Jonotthan Harrison at Center, Chuma Edoga and Conor McDermott at Tackle

Could enter off season, training camp with this lineup:

LT -- Kelvin Beachum / LG -- Joe Thuney / OC -- Cody Whitehair / RG -- Brandon Scherff / RT -- Jack Conklin

Opens the door to draft either LT or Center in this year's draft...
Opens the door to go WR, CB & Edge with first 4 picks...
Opens the door to be crippled for years if it fails and with this coach it very well could...

Thoughts???

We don’t have the cap room for all of them . I would be happy with any two of Conklin, Whitehair, or Thuney . Scherff alone is a cap buster.

right now we have roughly $49 M cap space, some cap casualties via trade or simple release will have us up to close $70 M and with the right contract custom writing anything is possible...

Conklin is going to get around $10 annual
Scherff had a down year but he still command $12 annual
Thuney had a good year but possibly we could snag him for $12 annual
Whitehair has been consistent, and like Thuney and Scherff he could fetch $12 annual

figure Beachum comes back for around $8

technically we could afford it just depends who they will trade or release...

I know they are talking about re-signing Jamal Adams but he is technically under contract for another two years at reported rookie deal price anything else worked out doesn't affect cap for another two years...

But those five OL could be a hefty price tag but leaves us with around $15 to play with to fill other needs and re-sign our current roster...

I am sorry if this means walking away from RA to get these beast of an OL for Sam then why wouldn't we...

They do all that, they have one of the best OLs in the game. I'd still like to see a younger upgrade at LT, as much as I like Beachum as a person.

LT Beachum, LG Lewis, C Whitehair, LG Scherff, RT Conklin
Draft Willis/Wirfs/ Thomas at 11 or trade back.
Load up at WR, RB, CB, OLB

I could probably live with this and as far as RA I have no preference because as I mentioned on here before I think with more reps Smith could fill his vacancy just fine.

We are looking at a roster with 25 or so free agents. To sign Conklin at $10, Scherff, Thuney, Whitehair at $36 combined, Beachum at $7, your draft class at $5 to $6, and Poole at $6 = $64MM. That’s picking up 10 or 11 guys (with the draft) and losing roughly 23 guys. Are we playing with 30 guys????? Realistically, if we could sign any combo of 2 I’d be thrilled . Until we can get out from under the Johnson and Bell deals, we are sort of screwed and will need to be patient. I don’t care for Gase, but he was right...... we should have passed on Bell. Even if we trade him, we’re still gonna eat a fair clip of that contract. I do believe after this year, the Johnson mess will be in the rear view mirror with no more guaranteed money?????

to be honest to secure this OL the only two I would sign would be Thuney & Scherff opening the door to draft a franchise LT & Center
re-sign Beachum to groom new LT to replace him, same with Harrison who is under contract and draft the future at Center...

As much as I like Conklin there are more affordable options including our this year's rookie Chuma... Not to mention JD has ties to a couple of 3rd tier serviceable options like Vaitai from Philly... Maybe the team could draft another tackle like Ben Bartch from St. John's with the first day 3 pick... Having two anchors at guard allows wiggle room on degrees of talent at all three other positions...

Isaiah Wright from Temple, and Aaron Parker from Rhode Island would give us plenty of fire power at the receiver option expect a solid jump from Vyncint Smith, Braxton Berrios and if we keep Jamison Crowder we still have a solid core...

Trading Bell albeit for 2 5ths isn't ideal but rather run with Bilal Powell, Josh Adams, Jalin Moore, Trenton Cannon and maybe a rookie...
Ryan Griffin, Chris Herndon, Trevon Wesco are good enough at tight end...

Another two trade chips that we can use to acquire draft capitol are Darryl Roberts & Henry Anderson... Expect one of the two to be moved CJ Mosley vs Avery Williamson... Expect both Burgess (RFA Tender) and Hewitt back, along with Cashman...

Maulet will receive a RFA tender, Hairston under contract with Bless Austin is solid core and if we can retain Brian Poole we can sign a FA or draft another outside corner... To me there are two corners that have the same makeup of Bless Austin in Dane Jackson from Pitt and Chase Lucas from ASU either one or both would stack our core with real potential without having to reach in the earlier rounds for hopeful talent/diva attitude...

Guys like Jordan Jenkins, Alex Lewis, Brian Poole, Neville Hewitt, Kelvin Beachum, Bilal Powell, Rontez Miles and Lac Edwards are important Unrestricted Free Agents we need to retain...

Guys like James Burgess Jr., Arthur Maulet, Josh Malone are restricted free agents that should be tendered and retained because all three could have prominent roles next season for us...

Guys like Sam Ficken, Jeff Smith, Frankie Luvu, and Bennett Jackson are exclusive restrictive free agents that will be retained at least for camp purposes...

Going into the draft will open up more filling long term need rather than best player available the team can then take the best player on their board for the position they are seeking to fill then just drafting another defensive tackle...

An Offensive Line start the season:

LT -- Kelvin Beachum / LG -- Joe Thuney / OC -- Jonotthan Harrison / RG -- Brandon Scherff / RT -- Halapoulivaati Vaitai

would be ideal...

opening up for LT & C to eventually take the reigns and allow Chuma Edoga to continue his development to be the future at RT, maybe...

so that means 2 of the first 4 picks would go for that LT & C...

4th round could be used for that RT, unless Chuma instills confidence that he can turn it around...

Really like your idea here. Drafting LT and C in first 4 picks and letting them develop behind Beachum and Harrison is ideal with the hope that they compete for starting positions during the season. From all accounts both Beachum and Harrison are very good lockerroom guys and exactly the type of players that fit Douglas' philosophy of culture and transitioning from one generation to the next. The OL is not a one year fix, but what you suggest is a solid building block step.

Seems like a solid plan to me. Show it to Joe when you aren't out working.

I'm not high on Scherff and his contract. We should be able to draft a LT, RG or Center in the draft. Take LT or RT at #11 and a OC with our 3rd RDs. We still have a 2nd Rd and early 3rd to grab a CB and WR.
