Douglas replaced Mike Maccagnan as GM last June, so even though he’s been around for a while, this will be his first combine in charge and he will be under the microscope. The Jets brought Douglas in because he is highly respected in the scouting community and he had a large amount of responsibility with the Eagles. Now, he will be running his own show.

The task is daunting for Douglas. The Jets have holes all over the roster — offensive line, wide receiver, edge rusher and cornerback are the headliners. When Douglas arrived he found a roster that had some high-end talent but no depth. Building depth will be a big part of his mission this offseason and that comes with strong drafting in the middle and late rounds.

Captain Jack McCarthy
Captain Jack McCarthy
On Monday, September 26, 1960, a new Skipper took the helm of WPIX TV Ch. 11 NYC's "Popeye Show" - and maintained its course for the next 12 years with his warm smile, gentle wit and soft spoken demeanor.

Don't forger Sonny Fox on Wonderama. Also Chiller Theater, Speed Racer, as well as watching The Little Rascals and Corageous Cat before school.

BTW, I recall Capt. Jack always hosting the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Channel 11. And remember when Officer Joe had Moe Howard on the show?

Absolutely
"He is best known for hosting the broadcast of the New York City St. Patrick's Day parade for 41 years, and as "Cap'n Jack" for hosting WPIX's block of Popeye cartoons in the sixties and early seventies."

Not sure about Moe on the show ?
I'll research that one

Think I messed that up. I remember Officer Joe occasionally talking about being friends with Moe. But now think I conflated his show with Moe's appearance on the Mike Douglas Show.

Couple more I recall:
--Watching wrestling on WOR/Channel 9. That was the Bruno Sammartino era, with Ray Morgan doing the interviews.

--The East Side Kids on WOR and the Bowery Boys every Sunday morning on WNEW/Channel 5.

OMG, I idolized the Abbott & Costello Show. So ahead of it's time. Remember when Lou made his "famous antipasto" for everybody. They all got sick because he used ant paste. LMFAO!

And Stinky was Joe Besser who was one of the Three Stooges.

Abbott always snuck in a “Paterson NJ” comment.
His and my hometown!!!
I can't believe you said this. I always loved the bit Lou did with "LA". This isn't exactly right, but went something like this: Abbott: "Where are you from?" Lou: "LA" Abbott: "Los Angeles?" Lou: "No, LA". Abbott: "Louisiana?" Lou: "No, LA." Abbott: "Where?" Lou: "Patterson, NJ." Boom. Big slap across the face.
