Early Word on Robby Anderson’s Market is Not As Strong

SNY reports that the receiver market won't be as robust as expected because the draft is so deep with talented wideouts. Some scouts estimate that 20-25 receivers will be taken (or are worth taking) in the first three rounds. And with so many good receivers available there, maybe teams won't overpay in a middling free-agent market.

The Jets are hoping Robby Anderson's price drops back to the $10M per year range, if not lower. If it does, he could return to the Jets next year.

I'm guessing so is RA & his agent blowing all that smoke that is clearing after a fab combine of how deep the talent pool is for a much less cost effective route then paying a part time deep threat all those guarantee dollars...

He's a $9-10MM player. He's not a #1, and should not merit $13-15MM.

But I would like to keep him at that $9-10MM price. He has very good chemistry with Sam, and the Jets had for ages been looking for a WR who can stretch the field like him. I suspect they keep him and draft a guy in the third or fourth.

Its just bad timing for RA. Too many good WR's can be drafted this year.

So true. Like I mentioned in another thread there are lots of quality receivers in this draft that can be had for rookie money several of which are about the same speed. Robby might be smart to cut a deal with the Jets now before he gets replaced and winds up out in the cold. I'm sure that the teams that were interested in him are thinking the same thing now that they have had a chance to watch the combine.

I said that a while back. Too many good WR in this years draft. No way is he gonna get $12-$15MM from anyone. IF RA was smart, he would do a 2 year deal for $17MM, half guaranteed. Then he could try his luck on the open market again. Jets should jump on that type of deal …..
