When he got caught breaking the law. After all that's how a lot of Jets players become stars isn't it ?
Hate to say but it seems to be yet another 300 pounder d-lineman that was a waisted pick. Yes this is only his second year and his only offense or so we know of. So hopefully this is his last offense and he will live up to his potential. Problem with that is that's all it seems to be with these 300 pound d-lineman that the Jets are always falling in love with, all potential and no true promise in the end. Mo Wilkerson was decent at beast, Shelton Richardson didn't pan out, Leonard Williams turned out to be mostly hype and now Quinnen?
Q wasn't a break out, all world impact player like J.J Watt or Aaron Donald was year one and that was what he was supposed to be. A 300 pound impact, straight off the back pass rusher but he wasn't. At least not last year. He still can grow into that but WILL HE? It ain't looking good and to think of all the other players they could of drafted instead of all four of these guys, but the Jets have this best player available mentality. Problem with that for us is the best player always seems to be some 300 pound d-linemen that just never seems work out for us.

I tend to agree with this statement. Some players adjust to the NFL quickly and some don't. That's just how it is. He also had some injury problems that he dealt with. This season is his prove it season for me. If he shows only average ability then I'll start thinking the Jets made a bad decision and we need to correct the problem but I'll give him another chance to be that guy that we thought he was going to be. I'll also be hoping that he doesn't do any more stupid things off field.

People take weapons on commercial flights all of the time. Have you ever been around the airport during hunting season? They are unloaded, in cases and are checked. He didn't attempt to bring it on the flight. He had it unloaded in a bag to be checked and I believe that he told agent as much. His crime was not attempting to check the firearm, his crime was that it wasn't registered in NY.

Yeah thats right. Just because someone isn't aware of some nuanced law for a particular jurisdiction, doesn't make them dumb as a bag of hammers. You know the old saying about people living in glass houses...

Not writing him off, I'm just speaking what could potential be the truth. He had an ok year last year. Doesn't mean he won't explode this year or the next but look at the Jets past 10 to 15 year history with these 300-pound or less sized dlineman. It just hasn't turned out well AT ALL but they still keep drafting these guys. Besides Shaun Ellis who was drafted in 2000 (and he was nothing special, just consistent and pretty good), every other dlinemen has been pretty much trash.
Shelton Richardson and Leonard Williams were the biggest disappointments because they were supposed to be the J.J. Watt and Aaron Donald type impact players and they were nothing to the sorts. Q is supposed to be that as well and only time will tell but I'm not banking on it. Maybe Q will be the exception but over the past 4-5 first round draft picks of these dlinemen, none of them has panned out, been bust pretty much or they were ok and never lived up to their potential. It's just a fact, that's all!

LOL, I hear ya and can't argue or dispute what your saying AT ALL. I was trying to be nice and give the kid a chance but I see where your head is at and I can't blame you at all. Since drafting S. Ellis in 2000, the Jets have drafted ALL IN THE FIRST FREAKING ROUND I MIGHT ADD: D. Robertson, Q. Couples, M. Wilkerson, S. Richardson, L. Williams and now Q, Williams. That's 5 dlineman, not including Q. Williams all within that range of 285-315 pounds and none of them have panned out to being anything special. M. Wilkerson was average at best I'd say. This tells me that they could have drafted dlinemen in the 4th-5th rounds to accomplish the same damn thing. Maybe even signed a few undrafted rookies to do what they did. We'll see what Q turns out to be within the next 2-3 years but I'm not holding my breath on it at all.
