LT: George Fant signs 3 year deal (basically 1 year with team/option)
LG: Alex Lewis re-signs 3 year deal (team friendly contract)
OC: Jonotthan Harrison under contract next year
RG: Brian Winters under contract next year (Cap Casualty?)
RT: Chuma Edoga under contract year two of rookie deal

OL: Conor McDermott under contract next year
OC: Connor McGovern newly signed
OL: Josh Andrews newly signed
OG: Greg Van Roten newly signed

If or when they make a decision on Brian Winters will open the door for another signing for right guard, the team will do well to find a veteran backup option for Harrison at center... One name to watch out for is former Denver Bronco Connor McGovern is now being linked to the Jets along with Stefen Wisniewski and Greg Van Roten...

Still believe the team will be targeting a tackle and center in the draft, possibly using the second or third round picks to do so...

If that’s the best Joe can do ....he better resign now . That line roster is the same or worse than last years fiasco

Jets are still in discussions with Greg Van Roten but for now I hear they are focusing their attention to Phillip Dorsett and re-signing Robby Anderson...

Jets are willing to offer no more than $12 M to RA, but prefer to give him $10/11 annual... Years undetermined at this time...

There has been some discussion about Connor McGovern (Denver) but nothing pertinent in contract dollars, yet...

the only question is he replacing Brian Winters... Jonotthan Harrison has continuity with Sam, but if McGovern is the new center means there is one more piece to make and that is RG...

but think Alex Lewis and Connor McGovern both guards in this lineup suits the team better... Thats just my thoughts...

Going into last year, I was not sold on Harrison. But he has developed a very good chemistry with Sam, and while not being a Pro Bowler, he has been a solid starter. He also had a good rapport with the other OL, which for a C is HUGE.

I thought Harrison did a solid job as well, particularly down the stretch. He'll be a good backup. Don't know if he can play OG, but maybe that's an option.

I am usually not a big endorsement kind of guy for Offensive Linemen signings that the Jets have done in recent years, but McGovern C/G is a very good signing along with Alex Lewis.

Douglas has to realize this too right?

Actually thought this article by Cimini is pretty accurate. I have to say he's been much better since he went to ESPN. For a long time he was awful with the Daily News. At least now, his criticisms and commentary are rational.

Anyway, I think Douglas is the guy that needs to right this ship. I think he has a plan to do that. It will take time - he'll be methodical, which is what this organization needs.

Although I am happy with the additions on the OL, I hope it doesn’t preclude Joe from taking the best available athletes on day one, and it will be heavy in not only wr ,but also, there will be some really talented interior linemen.

Really interesting article on "Turn on the Jets" website about offensive line fits. Author discusses outside zone that is basis for Gase's (Shanahan's) offense and how a lot of our OL from last year was a poor fit. Also discusses fact that OL coach Pollock is an OZ guy, and which OLinemen who are draft eligible this year would be good fits.

It is a huge adjustment, and requires a different skill set. When I played in college, we ran a lot of option out of I. Blocking schemes were similar to what I had played at lower levels, but with a few twists.

A few years ago, I was coaching OL for a prep school, and we went to a zone scheme. Completely different world, in terms of splits, first step, everything. I went to a couple coaching clinics and learned it, but I was shocked at how different it was.

That is also part of the reason why, much like when you're talking DL or corners, not every OL will fit your scheme. So you may ask why your team didn't go after "Fill in the Blank," but often it's because that guy won't fit what the team is doing.

I found it interesting in that maybe all of the top 4 OTs aren't necessarily good fits, but a guy like Joshua Jones is. May open us up to trading down and still get the OT who is the best fit. Makes you also understand why Gase may have been very frustrated with MM, who went out and got Kelechi Osemele, who probably wasn't a great fit in a OZ scheme.

Former Colts, Eagles C/G Josh Andrews newly signed

So first three signings by Joe Douglas have been all OL, not bad start...

Re-signed few players and making good safe moves for the roster...

I bet it would take a 2nd round pick which would probably be worth it for a 24 year old pass rusher.

Osemele came here as damaged goods, and the Raiders had to have known.

The offensive line is turning out to look good as Joe Douglas could conceivably add one more veteran tackle and we will have completely revamped what was the weakness last season...

LT: George Fant
LG: Alex Lewis
OC: Connor McGovern
RG: Greg Van Roten
RT: Chuma Edoga (expect the team to find a veteran option to compete or takeover the starting role)

So this opens the door when the team is allowed to access the year end physicals for all players on injured reserve the next step will be shop to trade Brian Winters or simply release him and open up $7 M...
