OT George Fant said he signed with the Jets to play LT.

OT George Fant said he signed with the Jets (three years, $27.1M) to play LT. Probably not happening with the addition of No. 1 pick Mekhi Becton. Asked how he'd feel about RT, Fant said, "I don't want to get that deep into it ... It's not about a position, it's about getting on the field." He played a little RT with Seattle, but was mostly a 6th OLM. Fant, who got a late start because of his basketball background, said his goal is to reach an All-Pro level. He believes that is attainable.

Fant will get the chance to start at left tackle, Becton smart play will split time at right tackle because his technique is really raw for this level... Expect 2021, is when Becton will move to left tackle for the Jets unless Fant stinks it up or gets injured even then they might rather throw Edoga to left tackle to not stunt Becton's growth again unless he develops quicker...

just listened to the interview & in fairness to fant, the interviewer asked fans directly if he signed with the jets expecting to be the starting LT.. he said something to the effect of LT is his best position.. & while LT would be his first choice, he's comfortable playing RT as well..

came across smart level headed team kinda guy who also had nothing but great things to say about becton..

all the way down to becton played his college team & he's actually watched film on him..

oh, they have a reason.. attempting to create a story when there isn't one at the expense of fant..

as i mentioned, the guy is sharp & had no trouble not tripping himself up with loaded questions..

That is a really good sign that he is so level-headed about it. I really liked the flexibility his signing gave the team.
