Larry Warford cut by the Saints

That would be an accurate assessment G but the way I see it our current players are more or less on the hook whereas Worford is kind of dangling out there in space where another team might snatch him up the release of winters pays his salary.

With Warford, I don't necessarily think the Jets are taking their time. The guy has a market. His side is the one taking their time. And why wouldn't he?

It's not like the Jets decide whether they want a guy, then as soon as they show interest, the deal is done.

5 teams are reportedly discussing with his people to join their teams but for the Jets they are active in discussions... Even if they get him I don't necessarily think means the end of Brian Winters because technically they don't have a veteran right tackle on the roster... Becton to me has a long road to earn reps at right tackle nevertheless left tackle...

Winters was a tackle in college, not saying he could adjust to right tackle but he has the fortitude to pull it off...

With what Winters is owed, and his injury past, I think it's far more likely Lewis is looked at as possible depth at OT than Winters is.

again not how and what Joe Douglas said about Winters I doubt it... the toughness of an offensive linemen nowadays are rare and some tap out but Winters proved over and over again he can play through injuries until the team shuts him down... Who knows maybe Joe Douglas restructures Winters deal to make it more team friendly but that is if they acquire Warford...

Exactly. You can never have enough good depth @ O-Line and when healthy Winters is good and has starter quality. As a backup? He's EXCELLENT depth. Winters may not be an All Pro or even Pro Bowl status but he's never been "the problem" on our Offensive Line and makes for another quality lineman within the trenches.

If the money is the same and Warford is an upgrade, why not make the switch?

everyone is assuming that we have a starter on the left side, that it is Van Roten what if signing Warford moves him or Winters to the other side...

again until they fix or develop Becton, Clark and find out the health of Edoga there is no one penciled in at right tackle as much as everyone here believes it should be Fant, it won't be not at least this season...

starting OL could look like this:

LT: Fant LG: Winters/Warford OC: McGovern RG: Winters/Warford RT: Van Roten/Lewis/Andrews

that could be the line up if they want to go all veterans as starters...

There is no way zero chance that Becton (like Brick) isn't day one starter @ LT from day one. He won't be developed @ RT and he won't come off the bench either.
ok Adam Gase, but it would be foolish to start a technically raw talent at left tackle unless you want to Jay Cutler Sam Darnold...

I get your reservations, but I'll trust Frank Pollack over either you or me in this case.

we'll see...

no off season, even limited one won't do anything but stunt his growth so to start him will only put Darnold's health at risk.,

He may or may not be ready. And yes, an abbreviated preseason will not help in the least.

But I still trust Pollack more than I do either of us.

Speaking of Pollack, I got to hear someone he was working with in Cinci, Jim McNally, talk zone scheme at a coaching clinic a few years back. McNally also spent a year or two consulting on the OL for the Jets back under Rex.
