I'm not sure. I think the Johnsons largely do what you want owners to do. They open the checkbook for talent, and they let the football people make the football decisions.
Are there better owners? Sure. But I don't know what else they could do.

they need to hire the right people to run the team. they seem to have tried to do this but have had bad luck so far. let's hope that luck changes with Douglas and Gase.
Douglas gives me hope. gase has me scared. he seems to be boneheaded and boneheaded only works when you are winning. that's why when I saw the early schedule last season, I knew we were doomed. Especially if we lost to buffalo week 1... and half the team got injured.... I guess it was a miracle we won those games in the end even if they were against teams like us. the worst for me was being the only team to lose to 2 no win teams at that point in the season
Well, Sack, they could re-structure the organization so that there is a clear-cut hierarchy, as is the case with most teams.

That is absolutely a fair critique. I do not like the current structure. The HC should be reporting to the GM.
I would think that even though Gase helped get Douglas here, Douglas gets to stay and hire Gase's replacement when that time comes. And whomever he hires should report to him.
I'm thinking 4-12 to 6-10.
28th doesn't seem so far off. , I'd guess between 22nd and 25th. Sure we made some improvements, but nothing overwhelming. Every other team made improvements too, through the draft and free agency.
Last years scheduled was a dream, shit teams and no travel. Look how bad we struggled to beat the Bill's third and 4th string week 17.
Lots of ifs.... If Gase learns to adjust play calling, If Darnold takes the next step and improves , if a bunch of below avg O lineman suddenly become an above average unit. Lots of new pieces, a very unusual, shortened off season, little time to gel. Temper expectations .

Tne second half of the season was a dream. The first half was brutal. Almost no breaks, good team after good team.
The problem I have is, if the Jets go 7-9 with a bad schedule, Jets fans will say they're awful because they had an easy schedule and still didn't have a winning record.
If the Jets go 7-9 with a brutal schedule, those same Jets fans will say they are a losing team, and that you can't in the schedule. You play who they tell you to play.
It is the perfect case of having your cake and eating it, too.
The team was awful last year in spite of the 7 wins. That schedule was far from brutal ,
Bills,Dolphins,Browns,Cowboys,Jaguars. That's brutal? 200 miles of travel... sure we faced a couple of good teams but far from brutal... What is your evaluation of this upcoming schedule?
I would praise the team if they win 7 games next season. Given the schedule,opponents and travel to the west coast.

If your happy with below avg striving for mediocrity, good for you, I'm sure the vast majority of fans are tired of the shit teams we have been fielding for far too long. Things may be heading in the right direction, but that doesn't change my evaluation of last years team.
the "structure" is in place because it allows woody & woody's brother to play the world's most expensive game of fantasy football ever.. i'm sure winning would be fun for them too but not at the cost of meddling..
for instance, if douglas is not in favor of building his defense around a diva box safety, he will be overruled by the two dopes because the media/PFF fawns over the guy like he's the late sean taylor.. he's not that kind of ball player.. ask gregg williams.....
I think other franchises have owners who meddle a lot more than the Johnsons. Hell, Jerry Jones is the GM of the Cowboys. Dan Snyder, when he first bought the Redskins, went into the offices with a stack of fantasy football magazines.
I don't see the Johnsons being anywhere near those guys.

And the Jets schedule this year is brutal. Last year, it was middling, inconsistent, a far easier second half.
I repeatedly griped about Maccagnan not investing enough in the OL when he was here, so I'm not sure what you are talking about there. I did think Kalil would be a good fit, as he was a veteran presence at C who could help a young QB. But I was quite consistent on saying I thought Maccagnan did not invest enough resources in the OL. I assume that that point was not convenient for you bashing me, so you ignored it.
