I wouldnt have minded seeing Rivers or Dalton winning a superbowl either. maybe belichick gives them each a ring over the next 3 years
I wouldn't have minded them winning a SB with their prior teams because they played in the AFC and I'm still fighting the AFL-NFL wars.

SO GLAD you have such a negative view on him and I figured YOU would be the one to say something like this. We'll definitely have to agree to disagree on this one, as we do on most Jets subjects. Under Belibitch, Cam will shine and stay healthy for 7-10 more years because he will be playing a lot more from the pocket. He has had a full year to recover and he's only 31 years old. I see no reason why under a head coach and organization that won't allow him to run crazy like a wild bull, why he won't stay healthy and play well for 7-10 more years. It sickens me to think that they struck a gold mine here but I believe they have. Guess we'll just have to see!!!

So two shoulder surgeries in 4 years for a less than accurate QB is not concerning to you? Or a Lisfranc injury last year for a running QB? There is nothing to suggest he will last another game let alone another 10 years.

Oh but there is and I'll give you three reason why:

1. He's a Patriot now and always seems to mean the player actually plays better and last longer. Maybe it's because he's coached and protected better by a better organization. Plus that is a cheating franchise. Just a small clue!

2. He's a older and I'm assuming a wiser player. So it's pretty safe to assume he won't be running around like a wild bull anyway. He'll actually want to stay and throw from in or out the pocket more. Even when he has to run, he'll do it safely.

3. It's just the Patriots luck and the Jets fate that it will turn out this way. It just always seems to turn out this way for these two franchises, over the past 20 plus years anyway.

We all know how this story plays out. Playoffs, possible super bowl. Can is released ,the Pats get a third round Comp pick, replacing the one they lost for filming. NE picks up one of the 2018 QBs for pennies and they dominate the Division for another decade or two.

SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT! Although, I could see them making Cam into a 7-10 HOFer on that team but then again your scenario works also.

IDK, the last time I watched Newton play, he was aweful. One hopping receivers, bad overthrows. He looked like shit. Now, maybe his shoulder was injured in that game and such but I remember thinking, wow what a fall from what he was.
Maybe he’s fully healthy now, Belicheck will put him in the best position to succeed, I believe, still isn’t as good or as accurate as Brady Though. Don’t think he gets rid of the ball as quickly as Brady.
Pats are going to try and run it, have a lot of two TE sets.
it will definitely be interesting.

Look at Cams play through the first 8 games of 2018, the lat time he was healthy. He played better than Brady did last year. If any player should have demanded a trade, it was Cam. He was so poorly managed. Every time the kid got hurt, the coaches ran him more.
I dont see Belichick running him 10, 12,14 times per game, but teams will still have to have a LB or Safety spy him , taking one out of coverage.

I dont know, A 1 year rental of a veteran player, seems more Belichickian..... Lol. He seems to manage to get every last drop out of this kind of guy, and sets them free so an opponent can overpay and he can add to his pile of draft picks

We're all forgetting one thing: Bellichik will eventually retire, maybe in a year or 2, especially if the team struggles without Brady. He has nothing left to prove. So, in my opinion anyway, the fears of another 5-6-7 year run are overblown. The guy is going to leave and their dominance will end. A guy like Brady is once in a lifetime, and a guy like that coach is once in a lifetime as well.
We also tend to forget Brady's impact on the other players emotionally and in terms of leadership. Love him or hate him, it must be acknowledged that he got those guys playing their best and he ranted at them if they didn't. I doubt their new qb comes anywhere near Brady in that regard. And maybe some of their dominant players just can't live without Brady, and their performance will suffer or they'll just leave.

One of his sons has been coaching the D and hes been calling the defensive plays and his other has been assistant GM for a while, hes been grooming them to replace him. Not saying they will be as good, but there will be continuity when he does step down.
I think he has more to prove than he has in years. He has to prove he can win without Brady. His ego wont allow anything less. Health will likely be the deciding factor. . He stated years ago his intent was to coach until 70,but recently said he had no idea then what 70 would feel like back then, then said he could see himself passing Leavy and Hallas. Both were 73 when they retired.

belichick will want to prove he can win without brady

I agtee, brady would rip into his team mates if they bleeped up and he was very good at motivating them to play better. of course plenty of guys don't respond well to getting ripped into like that and maybe the boys in tampa wont like it much

in my opinion, they both want to prove that they can win without each other. brady just went to a pretty good team and brought back gronk, so he may be in a good position to win, minus the fact that he is old and not as good, but. if I had to bet on who will succeed without the other in the long run, I'd pick belichick hands down

By the way, Belichik just turned 68 in April. If he goes home in a couple of years, the idea of us enduring another 5-6 year run is much less likely. And the pain that we endured for the last 15 years or more will be history.....

He recently said he could see himself passing Leavy and Halas as oldest coach, that would be 5 years more minimum. They were 73 during their last year coaching. He just may die on the sidelines...

Or he could move back to GM and let his sons coach. It's the system and halftime adjustments that win games for the Patriots, and he doesn't have to call every play or stand on the sideline in the rain to influence that.

His son has been calling the D for a couple of seasons, and doing well. We don't know the specifics of the deal Belichick signed with the Devil though, he could live for hundreds of years, or may just be the Devil himself.... 😈

did I write this?! :rofl2: good one Tony. I'm still waiting for the day belichick tells Erin Andrews that she's so pretty he just wants to kiss her. then we know the deal is done
