updated Maccagnan draft pick chart

I actually defended some of Maccagan's picks over the years. Hard to do that now in hindsight. I thought Leonard Williams was a smart pick at the time. He turned out to be a quality starter, but nothing more. Not worthy of his selection at the top of the draft. Adams and Maye were smart picks and panned out, but Adams is gone. Austin probably won't start, but we'll see.
Darnold and Herndon look like excellent picks. Quinnen Williams, unknown.
But if you only get 5 starters out of 34 picks, that's downright awful. And only 2 first rounders still on the roster, that's even worse. You need to hit on those picks, at least 80% of them, especially at the top of the draft. Occasionally teams will miss, it happens, particularly on the back-end of the first round. But at the top, you can't miss very often and have a competitive team, unless the rest of your draft is stellar, and that record is even worse for Maccagnan. Nice man, but glad we have Douglas now. He's the first GM we've had since Tannenbaum that I feel great about.

maccagnan had his supporters here, coach bowles did as well..
& some who were absolutely not.....
Missed him, so 3 in 5 years, still pathetic.
he banked his whatchamacallit skill set to find priority free agents and hope they would develop into something...
he failed miserably...
he was a mediator who didn't know his ass from his nose when it came to football... can present nfo to a mediator but then it is a crap shoot if they don't know the game and what the team needs...
he failed because he guessed and hoped instead of following the research and data...
Not sure what you mean when say mediator in regards to MM. I could be wrong, but I thought he was a well regarded personnel guy with Texans.
what he did with the Texans and what he did here shows that he wasn't as much as of the cog as Woody & Crew thought he was with Houston...
he got fooled on who showed promise to whom actually had talent to be unleashed...
I recall Charlie Casserly and one other 'gray-hair' hall of fame type GM who strongly endorsed MM. Perhaps he was the best of a really crappy bunch available for GM jobs. Whatever, he is gone but he really set back the organization. Really fooled me, but what do I know.
