I really liked Butler out of college. Would be nice pickup and hopefully the Cards just had an excess of WR's. Must be nice.

I wouldn't be surprised to see both of them signed if they can agree on a deal. We have an opening on the roster and also an opening on the practice squad so I can see them being brought aboard in some way before the first game this Sunday.

Butler has the reputation for 4.5 speed and 7.5 hands.
But Bob Hayes had a reputation for bad hands too. But he held onto enough passes to make the Hall of Fame. You never know, and since I think they have one open slot on the roster, he may be worth a shot.

I read in another thread that Butler was 6'5" and sub 4.5 speed, attributes that can't be taught. I wonder why a team like the Cardinals would cut him. I get that they have Hopkins, Fitzgerald and Kirk as the top three, but teams need more than three and at his size he provides a nice target for RZ. So I question why the cut. Is there an injury or attitude concern?
Just saw Larry David's response and a WR without hands is a big problem obviously.

Butler is an intriguing height/weight/speed receiver who will straight-up Randy Moss some defensive backs, but his concentration drops and body catches are hard to ignore. If he can get into a system where he's trusted to be the deep/comeback threat and post up in the red zone, he will be productive.

for a team like us that needs that deep threat, he would have a role here to work on his overall game. for the Cardinals like you said they have three starters and have their special team players filling out the other spots at receiver. trading for Hopkins basically stole his spot on the team.

Interesting pickup from the Ravens. 6'5" 210 and very athletic who faced an uphill battle in Baltimore with the trio of MBrown, Boykin and Snead and the drafting of Duvernay and Proche. At 25, perhaps still qualifies as a developmental project.

Didn't realize that Ogletree played for GWilliams with the Rams, so there is the familiarity. Plus with all of the depth that we started with at ILB, we are down to 3, prior to Ogletree signing.

Neither of these signings came as a surprise to me. I hope it works out like the Jets must be thinking.
