Have a good receiving core...
Have a good offensive line with depth...
Have a solid running game... HC is a RB coach so he knows how to run the ball taking pressure off the QB...
Have a good tight end group to be max security for any young QB...

So yes they chose to walk away from Phillip Rivers at the right time to draft his replacement because the team was set up for the change...
