Let me ask a question about our next QB

If we move on from dunderhead,

1) Most on here value our GM as a smart GM.
2) The Jets have many needs.
3) A 4th round pick can have great value.
5) You can hire a backup like Flacco most years as a qb.

Why does James Morgan's name not come up here as a possible starter for the Jets down the road, Warner & Brady were late round picks. Why not give this guy a chance & some playing time. Did the Smart GM waste a pick on purpose? Do we not have other needs (OL,CB,TE Wr, Kicker) all places for 4th round picks. He must have thought there was something there. Ok from the tape I see he has a good arm but can underthrow guys at times. Looks at one rec but he does have some skills even if raw,. I would like to see more of him before he goes to another team.

I think they view him as a career backup. JD....with the new coach will be picking a new QB this year. No way is a new coach going with Darnold . If we wait till the later 1st rounder, may have a shot with Trask or the Alabama QB. I hope its the kid from BYU and maybe Leatherwood later in the round

I think you are right but why waste a 4th round on a guy you may have gotten later. They had other needs

He went to FIU, Florida International University. Not exactly a top notch or even mid-level school for football. Might be a reason for that!

Not saying that the kid can't make it or even be a future HOFer. A lot of HOFers or star players have come from smaller schools like his or HBCUs. Like the HBCU school that Walter Payton or Michael Straham came from but that is few and far in between. Brett far went to a mid-level school Southern Miss. Tom Brady came from Michigan, a big-time school for basketball and football but he was drafted in the sixth round. So is it possible yes but more than unlikely.

But again I agree but no one questioned why he was chosen so high when we needed so much. Many good players are picked 4th. There had to be a reason. A back up qb at this point was not the best choice for that round unless jd thought of him as more then a backup

maybe once Gase is gone, this kid gets thrown into the preseason mix next year. especially if we don't take another qb with a high pick

at this point, I'm going back to hoping we build a patriot type offensive line that brady would love to stand behind. Then, Sam gets amnesia, forgets the past 3 years and somehow sees the light

Questions asked that we may never get the answers too but great point. Maybe the kid does have something or maybe JD waisted that 4th round pick. We'll find out soon enough, HOPEFULLY!

I really don't care where our next great QB comes from as long as he is a top eight QB. I would like to find out

Still have to assemble the proper pieces around the QB, regardless who it is. I think Buffalo is a good example of adding the right mix of coaching, FA and the draft to surround a young QB.

Doesn't matter. Josh Allen had to write to 1,000 Div 1 schools when he came out of Junior College to get a chance. Only Wyoming gave him that chance. And Phil Simms went to Pig Farmer U. Morehead State. How many QB busts have come out of Ohio State, LSU and USC?
Ability is ability. The key is to find and develop it.

No question that prospects coming from certain schools get the benefit of the doubt, but they still need the proper development and tools to work with. Darnold had neither in his 3 years here. That is exactly why @#2, you either trade for more draft capital or select a foundational asset like Sewell.
