My dream scenario for the draft, what’s yours?

Jets faithful, so I’ve been thinking long and hard about this today and I’m officially off the Justin Fields train for the #2 draft pick. I’m actually officially off the QB draft pick at #2 period. I’m coming to terms with the fact that the Jets need to build the oline around any QB and that player has to be Sowell.

Now don’t get it twisted, I still think it’s time to move on from Darnold but if the new head coach, (Robert Saleh) and Joe D wants to stick with Darnold then so be it. So I’m not going to give you guys a full draft scenario because I don’t watch college football like that but my first three picks should be easy enough.

#2 Sowell
#23 should be a QB (hopefully Justin Fields or Zack Wilson) but I’m sure either of them won’t last that long. I’ll even go with the Alabama QB (as long as he’s the right guy)
#34 best WR available

Now I’m hoping the Jets can find a sucker to give them a second round pick for Darnold but that very unlikely. Probably a third at best.

I don't know what to do at QB either. I don't think any of them are worth the #2 pick. That has to either be traded. Sewell. Chase/DeVonta. The most important thing is to get the right HC and staff. I'm really excited that Saleh might be the choice which means he is 100% the wrong choice.

Unfortunately your probably right about that but I hope that you are. Let’s not start this coaching stint off in the wrong foot. Lol

One of the problems with Sewell is that left tackles get paid a lot more than right tackles and somebody will have to explain to Becton or Sewell why they are getting less money. If we took Kyle Pitts we could have a go-to TE like most of the top teams have. I'd rather not take him at #2 though if we can trade down. Then use the later 1st round pick to bolster the interior O-line.

I think a CB needs to be drafted at 23. Get a shutdown corner and fix the D backfield finally. It's been a major need for years.

If the right guy is there, I agree. I also think that if the right Edge guy is there we should take him. So many needs... That's why trading #2 for more picks might be the best move.

The Jets need a team to fall in love with Fields or Wilson at 2. Trade back, Sewell at 2, to be a RT seems like overkill to me if you can get a big trade back package. They’re a lot of Oline talent in this draft. Jets can trade back a bit, get a Chase/Pitts/Surtain type then at 23 get a RT in Darrisaw/Leatherwood/Eichenberg/Cosmi.
Then at 34, Vera-Tucker/W. Davis/C. Humphrey
That’s without any FA addition.
Go into the draft with Scherff/Thuney & a Robison/Smith-Schuster already on board.
Moton RT from the Panthers maybe.
Draft picks will be looking different.

It all looks good right now, but I would stay away from Smith-Shuster. Seems like a distraction/headache.

If Jets hire 49ers coach I want Jets to Draft Zach Wilson to sit behind Darnold a year. This gives Darnold another year and saves Jets money with a QB Zack Wilson after that can grow together with our new HC. Also gives Jets a big Cap break at QB having Zack Wilson for 4 more years. Zack is big time arm passer and accurate far more than Darnold who is accurate to 10yds. The Alabama QB looks good because of all the surrounding players on that team making the QB look better than he is. Bama great O Line, great WRs and RB making QB look great going against a lesser talented team. Ill take a cjance on Zack Wilson who had less surrounded talent around him and he had to make plays and passes over 3000yds to win with barely any INTs compared to other QBs with less passing yds and as much or more INTs. Accuracy is important and Zack looks accurate better than rest except number 1 QB that Jets didnt want. It would be nice to have a HC with a QB to start together and I mean a QB that can pass long and short accurately. Zack Wilson is like Josh Allen with right Coach. Darnold was never going to be that and I didnt expect more than a average QB play if surrouned by talented WRs to make him look better. Wilson I think can to start have a higher potential.

Just draft Alabama. Problem solved. I don't think Alabama could beat the Jets, but I also don't think one player from the Jets could make the Alabama team.

Trade the 2nd to Washington for Chase Young and their 1st then get Wilson with that pick.

If they keep Darnold you have to take the game changing WR. You then sign Robinson and draft OL RB. You give Darnold some weapons and see if the Kid truly sucks. Personally I think he is a backup plain and simple. If they don't keep Sam you trade the pick and go from there.

I think it would be a terrible waste of assets to draft a QB to sit behind Darnold. Pick a direction and stick with it. If you believe you can still develop Darnold correctly (which I do), don't waste a high pick on a QB, use your picks to build the offense to allow Darnold to develop. Offensive linemen are usually safer bets than WRs, so I'd say Sewell with the second pick, or trade it for a serious haul of picks, and pick the best OL with whatever your new first pick is (4th?). Then get a stud WR or Kyle Pitts if he's available with the next pick, in addition to signing Allen Robinson or JJ-SS as a FA. Add in a coach to scheme to Darnold's strengths, and I think we'll see a completely different and better Sam Darnold.

The more i examine this draft, the more i believe the Jets need to trade the #2 pick .Usually i don't acknowledge the existence of the NFL team in Miami but for this instance, i want either both of their 1st round picks in exchange for them having the chance to draft Sewell for their LT . If Miami don't want to play ball, then i offer the pick to the Bengals for a haul . With our 1st 3 picks, i have a strong interest in the RB from Alabama, The Center also from Bama and the TE from the Nittany Lions . If we should manage to get another pick from the top of the 1st 2 rounds, then i go after one of the edge rushers or a CB like Eric Stokes from Georgia .

A decision like this would mean that i plan on targeting Kyle Trash the QB from Florida as protection in case Darnold just is what he's proving to be .

The problem with that scenario is that Tua is the Miami QB and he is a lefty, so he needs a right tackle to protect his "blind side", not a left tackle.

Are you sure about that ?
What's to stop the Fish from trading for Watson with all the questions about Tua.
Lastly, Sewell played RT more in his career than LT . You build the best OL possible and any QB will look good behind it with the right compliment of weapons . Look at Matt Jones from Bama being considered a 1st round QB.

and tom brady who had the best offensive line coach in history for his entire career except for a year of retirement which belichick quickly brought him back from. Danta Scarnechia. the real reason for all the wins up there. he was there before belichick. the reason brady is so great in the pocket is because he stood in the same spot virtually untouched for 20 years.... and when he picked his new team, he made sure they had the same crazy good line he was used to
