Could we see a Darnold for Jimmy G trade ? Jimmy has familiarity with the offense and can be used as a bridge QB for say Fields or Wilson. According to NinersWire, Jimmy brings a 19 MM cap hit, but expires after next season, and the Niners get Darnold on a rookie contract with 1 yr to prove it . If Jimmy does well he could be draft capital in 2022. Personally I think Jimmy is better than Darnold and it could give a rookie a year to watch and learn

Thoughts.

they wined and dined Saleh, so what...
they are going to wine and dine Arthur Smith...
they are patiently waiting for Daboll to lose so they can wine and dine him too...

why are all Jets fans acting like homers like we brought in Saleh he was the guy...

we know Joe Douglas wine and dined fillet minion and shrimp cocktail but then for breakfast Chris Johnson offered up eggs and grits...

Chris Johnson is not going to offer a contract that is going to wow any of these guys to where they are signing on the dotted line...

Joe Douglas zoomed interviews to narrow the list to bring them here for a in person second interview...

Guarantee if they want to sign someone it will be a third trip but this time will be Joe Douglas going to them to sign them...

I trust in Joe D., he is being diligent, all these so called reporters don't have a beat on what Joe D. is doing...

Yep, the same plan of attack I see unfolding. That's why I said don't count your chickens before they hatch.

HELL NO, PLEASE NO! I’d rather get a second round pick and draft something of true value and a future for the team. No future with Jimmy there. They can sign a veteran for the rookie to sit behind if that’s whats needed.

Saleh is just leaving his options open. Sure he interviewed with Philly, but I really don’t think that job is anywhere as attractive as ours. Detroit is the wildcard here..... I do believe Saleh would love to coach the hometown team... but they don’t even have a GM yet (i think), then we are way ahead of the curve here. I heard that Smith was the favorite for the Falcons, and he walked away unsigned from them.... so why is Saleh and the Jets any different .
My uneducated guesses are as follows (just for shits and giggles with nothing to back it up)
Falcons will hire Smith (big money begets big money)
Chargers will hire Dabol (high school buddies)
Jax will hire Meyers and pay him a grundle of money for nothing. He will fail
Detroit will hire Toilet Bowles or Saleh. I think Detroit is too stupid to hire Saleh and just stupid enough to hire Bowles
Jets will hire Saleh or Eberflus
Eagles..... anyone’s guess
Texan will hire EB....only because he is dumb enough to take the job, and everyone else is to smart to take the job

So Saleh was brought in, Smith was brought in (within hours of each other), no more news. You get the feeling we're waiting on Daboll and potentially Staley too. Silence may indicate that Brady, Eberflus aren't getting 2nd looks. May being the key word.

What a joke of an organization, the Falcons. They let him leave the building without a contract!
Remember these second interviews are essentially first interviews. Those 1 hour zoom interviews the league added this year were no more then an opportunity to guage interest from coaches still playing.

That's a valid point Tony, and while on the subject I'd interject something for those who think no one would come to the Jets. It only seems reasonable to me that any candidate that interviews is willing to consider coming here otherwise he would simply decline the interview. I'm not saying they are chomping at the bits to get the job but they are at least interested, so, they would come if the deal is right for them.

Even if a coach didn’t want the Jets job , wouldn’t he come in anyway to possibly boost any leverage from another team that is interested?
Coaches like to play organization against others just as teams look for the coach they want no?
Just a thought

I agree. I think with the Jaguars vacancy filled, the Jets opening is second to the Chargers.

Not really. HC prospects regularly turn down interviews. Happens every cycle.

That's a possibility too, but then, the Jets probably aren't considered to be a hot contender because of their not so shiny rep. Using us for leverage could go either way for them.

Oh, I know. I was only echoing what people were saying about the Jets letting Saleh leave the building.
