Report: Deshaun Watson wants out of Houston

Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was reportedly unhappy this offseason when he suggested that Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy should interview for the team’s head-coaching vacancy and the Texans left him off their list. But just because the Texans later reversed course and did interview Bieniemy, that doesn’t mean Watson can be placated.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Watson wants out of Houston and that won’t change, regardless of who the Texans hire to be their next head coach.

That could make it a tough sell for the Texans to get any top candidate to take the job. If Watson isn’t going to be there, the Texans job is one of the least attractive NFL job openings in years. The Texans are a bad team without much in the way of draft capital or salary cap space to get better. The only thing that would make the job attractive to a coach is that Watson, one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks, is there.

If the Texans offer Bieniemy the job, he might decide he’s better off remaining in Kansas City, where Patrick Mahomes is running his offense, than going to Houston, where he doesn’t know who his quarterback would be.

It’s been an ugly offseason in Houston, and the situation does not appear to be improving.

I'm not giving tons of picks for Watson. His team with a better roster went 4-12 with 2 wins vs JAX, the worst Pats team in 2 decades and Detroit.

brady ended his season scoring 30 plus against the falcons twice, detroit, and the vikings and was heralded as a hero for it and that made believers out of his team which has now won the superbowl

I wouldn't give up tons of picks here either. I guess I'm fine with the Adams picks but no more 1sts. through in Sam, or a late rounder, middle at most. no way to our 23 1st

keep in mind , that during this time, brady will be winning the superbowl anyway. at best, we can be second best, which is a step up from the last 20 years where the best we could be is 2nd best in our division. yahoo!

And what does having Watson do for the Jets? They will never be able to build a team around him and Mahomes is light years better. I would rather see if JD can build a super team like the Chiefs. Mahomes walked into a great situation.

if Mahommes lives through the superbowl, he will be here for a very long time. we have to deal with him somehow.

he might be the best qb I have ever seen play. he's so fun to watch. always knows where everyone is , knows when to take off, and he does it so naturally as if it's nothing. and he's a good kid. I' m fine watching him win a bunch of superbowls. Andy Reid also. they are likeable guys unlike the last to that have been winning all the superbowls. maybe we can get good enough to steal a couple. the afc is now where all the good teams are, thats why brady left. it's gonna be tough. we need a great qb and a great team around him to be competitive.

if we don't get Watson who will be the great qb?. I 'd like to ge him but only as a swap for Adams. not 3 ones

Smart move would be to follow the Chiefs build. Drafted a QB not number one and drafted players around him to have a young team with a QB taking less money to keep these players around him. By Texans QB will put Jets in same situation of few draft picks and little cap space. Bigger thing is do Jets fans think Texans QB will win a Super Bowl and how does Texans look with Watson? Texans in division playoffs? Winning record? Do you want Jets to pay big money to a mercenary QB not a Jet? Jets Draft Zack Wilson surround with talent and new Coach.

I want Watson
Still young
Top of his game , and could get much better
I don’t judge him by the Texans record
With Bill O’Brian as coach I actually applaud Watson .
That coach was as dysfunctional as Gase .
Drafting a QB is still a crap shoot , and we know the Jets crap out when it comes to that.
I’ll go with a proven commodity to build around and could possibly even bring an instant turnaround and success.
I’m in if it happens !

At this point in time, i think i will go with Darnold as our Future and if the front office decides to make a change i think i would like to go with Zack Wilson early, Kyle Trask at the top of the 3rd or K. J . Costello later in the draft .

too many conflicting reports, I believe there is a 1% chance that we trade for Watson... Leave it open but my feeling is since week 2 when Saleh had to prepare to face Sam Darnold and the tape they collected showed his potential whether it be untapped potential they believe he has what it takes to be the guy... Now in Saleh's introductory press conference he was asked and in true fashion this new head coach left it open on to whom may be next year's starter but all indications is with Joe Douglas that Sam is that guy...

sorry @Bigmoe but these are my true feelings and I believe Sam has what it takes with a full offseason and adding one maybe two new receivers from both free agency and draft he can then be put in a better system to succeed...

If Darnold is to realize his potential with the Jets, he has to play offense the way he played in the two games before that season ending debacle

need healthy receivers... need a tight end to catch the easy passes... need an offensive line that has chemistry... don't need Frank Gore rushing attack... need consistent and aggressive play calling...

Agree about Frank Gore thus my desire to draft Najee Harris as our feature RB. Disagree about the aggressive play calling because that's what gets Darnold in trouble . Darnold needs an OC who can scheme players open and he must learn to take the check down every time instead of forcing passes downfield .

Williams UNC better for this offense, like Harris but think someone will take him 30th - 32nd pick...
