Jarrad Davis is a rare linebacker with a great skill set. He is very fast with sideline-to-sideline speed that allows him to cover a ton of ground. Davis is explosive as a runner and as a hitter with some real shock that surprises offensive linemen and ball-carriers.

Former 1st round pick of the Detroit Lions was suppose to be a starting linebacker was the objective of the selection, Davis simply hasn’t played well. Detroit recently declined the fifth-year option on his rookie contract, paving the way for him to become an unrestricted free agent following the 2020 season.

Davis’ failure to become an answer for the defense is not a matter of work ethic, passion or football character. He is an elite competitor that is renowned for the way he prepares. Unfortunately, his level of play has been poor.

So Joe Douglas & Robert Saleh believe they can put Davis in the best chance to be successful and signed him to a prove it contract one year $7 Million.

Hopefully a change of scenery and a better scheme fit will unlock all of those physical traits. Sounds like a hard working passionate guy as well.

If Douglas can get out of Mosley's deal AND get a draft pick for him I would say that is quite an achievement. Especially since he hasn't played in what 2 year's? I'm not saying Mosley a bum just unlucky. He played his azz of in the 1st half of one game and got injured. That's bad luck. Opting out of last season? Can't really blame him I guess. No ill will from me just maybe time to cut your losses.

I just noticed that Spotrac has his deal listed at $5,500,000. Not sure which is correct but Spotrac usually is and if that's the case the signing becomes even more palatable for those who question the signing.

That's kinda what I figured, So it's a low risk high potential signing. If he works out well he'll collect 7M and if he plays only a game or two before being judged a bust we save a bunch. Gotta love JD's mindset here.

He was a backups backup. another wasted signing.
he was a 1st round pick, made starter in a scheme his skills didn't fit so he lost his job, but his skill set fits Saleh & Ulbrich's scheme not a wasted signing is a giving an opportunity to Davis...

So he was a 1st Rd pick. Gholston was a 1st Rd pick. Gholston was a starter. Gholston lost his job. We could have done a lot better or used the money on other needs. Douglas thinks he has the FA brain mentality of a Parcells or Newsome, he doesn't. He's signing diamonds in the rough with a hope and a prayer. I don't think he is a total failure. He has made some good signings of quality players and is a good GM when it comes to the Draft. Far better than what we had in the past.

comparing those two is like apples to oranges. Gholstonwas a gym rat not a football player. Davis has a skillset that was miss used and this coaching staff believes he fits how this defense runs.
Douglas and Saleh are choosing free agents to bring in, stop blindly suggesting otherwise.

I didn't see other teams breaking down his door to get him signed. I hope you prove me wrong . I hope he turns into the Bears (Urlacher) or moves outside and turns in to the Giants (LT). I truly hope he does. I hope all Douglas FA signings become All-Pro's next year and the years after. I have the right to post my opinion and I have been right on the majority of posts I put up here in the last few years pertaining to FA signings.. Who knows, maybe in the fall you could Post your own thread and say, "AFA you were 100% wrong".

again you are being blinded, Joe Douglas is working side by side with Robert Saleh in signing said players... Saleh said get him and Joe is doing so... If the player doesn't work out it won't fall on the GM's shoulders as he was just the go between...

Joe Douglas is a talent evaluator especially for in the trenches... He hit on a couple of players last draft but the others didn't get a chance to prove if they had anything because of the Head Coach/OC/Play Caller/Brilliant Offensive Mind who was running the team into the ground...

You are 100% wrong I am not stopping you to post your opinion but you have to accept the feedback when you click post reply...

We had 23 free agents to replace, cant all be filled with tier 1 players. He has produced in a 4-3 system.
He's getting paid as a back up. The real question is whether he is an improvement over say, Bryce Hager. If so, it's an improvement to the roster....

gmf1369 I take it you are working hand in hand with Douglas and Saleh. You seem to KNOW for a fact that Saleh is telling Douglas who to sign. Saleh may suggest to Douglas who he thinks may work, but Douglas is the GM, if he doesn't like what Saleh wants. Its tough sh#t. Your the one who needs to look in a mirror. Your the one who is 100% wrong. If my posts bother you so much, why respond!! I bet you can go back to Mac and Idzik and check your posts and be the one who kissed their AZZ too. I don't anoint a player a savior on accomplishments because he was a #1 pick or Pro Bowl player 5 years ago. I look at what he has been doing the past couple of years unless you come across a Mohammad Wilkerson who got his big payday and became lazy.
