I would be. Had we traded for Watson, then FA signings would be much more important. I was hoping for Hendrickson but Lawson could work out nicely.
I believe Lawson was a 4th round pick, but young and talented nonetheless.
I would take Sherman but only if he agrees to play free safety . I would definitely take Samuel, but he's gotta agree to be the RB . Paying big money to Samuel with Crowder costing 10 mil is crazy . Better to draft a slot guy .
If Samuel is signed, Crowder would likely be traded or released. Samuel would be a nice weapon in the new offense, can run, play slot or outside.
Sherman has expressed interest in moving to free saftey and saw a handful of snaps there last year.

Seriously though He signed 3 guys at need positions all under the age of 26. Sounds like the right direction to me.
Now let's get some OL in here to protect whomever lines up under Center. CB should be a priority as well on day 2. Also give Maye a contract that will keep him here as well.

I hope JD isn't playing the "safety mode", the worst to be said is his inactivity vs. poor picks.
Idzik didn't fare well in that way.
However to be fair, JD, with all his mentors, observations, etc. never sat in the G.M. chair before.

I think he is a decent GM and should get better.....but I think he screwed the pooch on this Darnold deal by being too greedy and stalling too long. It entirely possible that we could be stuck with a lame duck QB in his last year with the team, especially if they don’t pick up the option. I gotta think something may be in play for Watson because if not, this is an outright disgrace. All I heard was OL and DL..... have we haven’t done shit OL wise . Now I hear there may be some infighting among the brass about what to do with Darnold. If Watson is in play, I get it. Just sign Fuller and draft OL and throw Darnold in the deal.

So how do the Jets fix that problem?
Do they spend massively in free agency, overpay for veteran free agents, and get declared the offseason winners? Tried that. Hasn't worked.
Or do they actually patiently build a foundation through the draft and targeted young free agents who fit in with the organization? We don't know yet if it will work because every time the Jets have tried to build by tearing it down and drafting, either the GM was a terrible drafter or Jets fans and the tabloids didn't want to wait and ran them out of town by buying billboards and flying planes calling for that GM to be fired. Every slow, full build in the past has been cut off at the knees halfway through, so we don't know if it would ever work.
If the Jets took the first path, overpaid for those veterans, they would get better quicker. And they would top out as maybe a fringe Wild Card team. It's a faster build, the fans get to cheer a team that might make the playoffs, but they don't ever become a true title contender. And then, the bad contracts come back to haunt them in 2-3 years. I've seen that before.
I'd rather the Jets are a legitimate title contender in 3 years than are a Wild Card team now.
