They need to wait till Draft night. They may get a trade offer for the #2 pick that is too good to pass up. Darnold may be our QB for one more year.

The thing is, the Jets don't really have to necessarily do either. They can keep Darnold, draft Wilson, and see how both are in the system. If Wilson is the guy, then either trade Darnold after the preseason or at the deadline, or hold onto him and get a comp pick back when he signs with someone else for next year season. If Darnold is the guy, they can franchise him while they work out an extension.

I think the presumption is that it's an either/or thing. And I don't necessarily see it that way.

Sadly, he was gone too soon.
