Who do you think Jets will sign as Vet Back-up QB ? I would expect maybe Alex Smith or Brian Hoyer. There's not a lot to pick from.

Smith really cannot move - despite his amazing recovery

i bet someone now on an NFL roster will be released as a cap casualty

They meet with Hoyer on Thursday. Betcha that's it.

If not him, then who else?

RG III and Matt Moore are still available. Geno is too, the signing of who would keep posters busy for a bit. I actually wouldn't mind that.

Believe it or not, RG III might not be a bad idea. He has the same skill set as Wilson (Strong arm, likes play action and throws well on the run).
He might be a perfect mentor because he can tell Wilson what NFL defenses do against his style of play from experience, not just from film.

They want to sign a vet to teach Zach . And they’re going to pick Hoyer ???
Great
He had the single worst game I have ever been too live. His accuracy was so bad he could not throw an int. I am sure some if his passes ended up on airport radar. That bad

Based on the QBs available in free agency, the pickings are slim, Smith and Hoyer were the two I that I heard that the Jets likely would look into first. Based on what I heard these were just gut hunches not players I necessarily would go after myself. Something I heard awhile back around the time that Flacco moved on put that hunch into my mind. I agree with those that think that Hoyer is far, and I stress far, from the mentor I would want for our new QB. Smith on the other hand has a winning pedigree which would benefit the growth of our new guy under center. I'd take him. The problem is that Smith would not come here. He has already stated that he wants to go to a team where he can compete for the starting job. I don't think that's going to be here. However in the last day or two we hear that Hoyer is in fact taking a visit with the Jets so what I heard was at least 50% correct which means that what I expected the Jets to do in this case has so far not been too far off from what I heard. I can't wait to see how they fill this cup from an empty pot.
