The Jets have signed TE Daniel Brown.

Brown (6-5, 247) led the team in special-teams snaps in 2020 with 335 (75.5%). He took 28 snaps on offense and had 2 catches for 31 yards, both of which resulted in first downs. Entering his third season with the team, Brown played in 16 games for the Jets in 2019 and started in 5 games, totaling 7 receptions for 72 yards and 1 TD. He also finished third on the Jets with 11 special teams tackles.

Brown first signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of James Madison in 2015. He also played for the Bears from 2016-18 and has 44 catches, 420 yards and 2 TDs in 74 games (12 starts) over six seasons.

Head scratcher. Not a lot of production from this position on the Jets and they resigned a guy that only had 2 catches. Herndon also not production along with Griffen, Wesco, and Kroft. I'm thinking our starting TE and backup may not be on the roster. If someone tey like is there when they have 2 draft picks in a round or a couple of UDFA will be signed. I hope Herndon is healthy and plays this year.

game plan excluded everyone who did not appeal to the OC/HC/play caller

Daniel Brown is a receiver in a tight end body... He is able to run routes and get open with his speed... If only we had a real offensive coaching staff last two years maybe he would of been more useful...

They were too busy in tank mode. Tank mode something I never want to see the Jets accomplish ever again.

the players were trying to execute the Brilliant Offensive Mind's game plan which was so predictable that no one we faced was tricked by his bland formations and no motion snaps that were either run or screen at the worst possible times in a game...

I'm still hoping that Herndon becomes the player we thought he was. This season, with new coaching and new system, it just might happen.
I really like this player but if the opportunity arose and we had the chance to draft Brevin Jordan i would make that switch .

TE has been a barren wasteland the past few seasons IMO. Time to cut bait with Herndon. Especially with a new staff. Old regimes players have not been getting any love from the new one. I fully expect Herndon to be at TC but I don't think the Job is his to lose anymore. Competition brings out the best in everyone. Let's see what you got kid.

I don't know what was up Herndon's ass last season, but he clearly has ability. let's hope LaFleur drags it out of him.

I still have hope for Herndon if we finally have a coaching staff that knows how to use the tight end. Hopefully this is a better fit for him.
Of course he has to get that catch % up but in the right system can build confidence which can help with that.
