If Darnold becomes a star who will say I told you so. Please say it now not later. Remember TB JUST won a SB.
Honestly, I was in that same camp, but after thinking about it I feel like we did the right thing. I will not 2nd guess the decision no matter how it turns out.I am not saying he would have been a star. I felt we would have been better keeping him for another year and use our #2 overall pick as trade bait to bring in a haul of draft picks.
I never believed in Darnold as a star type and still don't. Arm, footwork, head all wrong.
Personal history shows me to be right about 8.153% of the time so grain of salt here
TB has won every superbowl with no end in sight. If Darnold becomes a star who will say I told you so. Please say it now not later. Remember TB JUST won a SB.
you could easily raise that percentage by doing like I do and declaring brady the superbowl winner every year. after the tuck rule game, I knew bad things were coming. cant say ,I foresaw 25 plus years of bad things, but I have seen so many things work in his favor, that I have to believe every superbowl will go his way until I take my last breath.I never believed in Darnold as a star type and still don't. Arm, footwork, head all wrong.

let's just remember this about Darnold. His first pass was a pick 6.If Darnold becomes a star who will say I told you so. Please say it now not later. Remember TB JUST won a SB.
let's just remember this about Darnold. His first pass was a pick 6.![]()
but then, bradys last pass as a cheatah was a pick 6, and his first at tompabay was either an int or a pick 6 also.
but Darnold will never have the teams around him that brady has had. no one will
& that is the good news about Sam lolSam never learned to read defenses. I've been saying that all along. He made occasional excellent plays and frequent questionable plays for three years continuously. Admittedly he didn't have a very good supporting cast but the poor decision making was all on him. In three years he never really improved. Unless Carolina figures out how to compensate for his shortcomings they are going to get what we had..................inconsistency.
how long do you think we will give this QB lolThe Refs blew the call.
Oh, you mean about Sam.
I agree with Gramoah, Sam never got better in the things he COULD control.
Later
I think decision making can be controlled, not taught . Parcells did it with Vinny T., but once he got Al Groh as a HC it was back to the same old Vinny . Like Chad said, if I had Vinny arm, .Sam had potential but what he lacked from day one with the Jets was proper coaching, for three years there was no one but a journeyman qb that wanted job rather teach and push him to be better. This was no one persons fault, more so it was the culture of a poorly ran organization which is owned by glorified fan with a trust fund.
If Sam succeeds good for if they are able to teach a 4th year qb not to be that guy he was for the first 3 years of his career. He has the arm talent and mobility, it always came down to decision making which is teachable.
But if you are the GM and you fall in love with Zach Wilson and believe he is the real deal, and has the goods to become a great (franchise) NFL QB, you do what JD did and screw the haul for the #2 pick. Who knows when you'd get a chance to draft another QB that you believe in so strongly? This is a QB driven league, period.I am not saying he would have been a star. I felt we would have been better keeping him for another year and use our #2 overall pick as trade bait to bring in a haul of draft picks.
