Heading into the preseason opener, the communications staff has Corey Davis, Jamison Crowder and Keelan Cole with the first team and Denzel Mims (behind Davis), Braxton Berrios (behind Crowder) and the electrifying rookie Elijah Moore (behind Cole) with the second team.

OC Mike LaFleur said of the unit: "It's a competitive group. From top to bottom it's an extremely competitive group. Obviously you guys look out there with the ones and you're going to see Corey [Davis] and Jamison [Crowder], they've played a lot of ball in this league and they've done a lot of good things. But you go right down that list and I don't care if it's with the twos or threes, the way that we script with receivers it doesn't matter what offensive line they're in with and a lot of times it doesn't even really matter what quarterback they're in with."

This is a little concerning for Mims, being that he's allowing Coles to take away time or the quote on quote, starting role position from him. Now Moore it doesn't matter because it's expected for now and he will get significant time on the field, starter or not. He'll end up being a starter in do time, it's pretty safe to say. Mims it might be a different story, Cole isn't any spectacular WR. He's decent at best and he's in front of Mims at this point???

your missing the point in this offense the receiver(s) are slot based...

Corey Davis & Denzel Mims are the only true non-slot receivers in this rotation...

Jamison Crowder, Elijah Moore, Braxton Berrios & Keelen Cole are all slot guys...

They are running one big receiver, two slot guys on offense at a time...

I really think Zach is going to get the job done

Not so sure about Mims but he’s said to be behind because of a 2 week illness where he dropped 15 pounds
Maybe he’ll come on

Actually this is my biggest concern
From the Post

One glaring weakness is the Jets’ tight ends. The combination of Tyler Kroft, Chris Herndon, Trevon Wesco, Ryan Griffin, Daniel Brown and Kenny Yeboah have not had a strong start to camp.

When will we ever address this

Ok, that helps! Hopefully that is what this all about because I was expecting at this point that Mims would see starting and major time on the field and be a major contributor on the field.

Under this new offensive scheme - precise route(ie possessing a football brain)is essential

Also, for the outside zone running game - wr blocking is equally paramount which requires much desire & heart.

Seemingly, 2 skills MIMS seems to be struggling with.

once again this offense is based on slot receivers and as seen above two groups of receivers are slot...

Corey Davis is first & Denzel Mims is second on the depth chart...

Mike LaFleur will utilize all the receivers in his arsenal as they did in San Fran...

As of right now: Corey Davis, Denzel Mims, Jamison Crowder, Braxton Berrios, Keelan Cole & Elijah Moore are the 6 WRs heading to the active 53... There is one maybe two spots for special teams, ie; Vyncint Smith gunner and possibly Jeff Smith but as of now the 6 are in...
