Pats interested in Harvin

If we cut him. That's the word on the street but I think it's just a smokescreen to mess with the Jets although I do think he would be a great addition to their team. Brady in this day and age is essentially a dink and dunk QB and that is where Harvin excels. Grabbing the ball with space. Let's see what we do with him on March 19th.

I'm truly hoping they cut Harvin but know one shows him any real interest and we then can resign him for $4-5 mil. I think that would be reasonable for him, $10 mil is totally out of the question. Just imagine Decker, Harvin, Kerley and a rookie WR like White, Cooper or Parker with Amaro and Cumberland. Even Geno will improve and I think he would improve by leaps and bounds with talent like that on the field.

well if he won't restructure for us not sure how in the hell the pats think they can afford him unless they let revis and or mccourty go.

Just those cheating sons of bit**es trying to force the Jets to piss away 10 million on this miscreant.

Would probably have worked with Idzik and certainly on Tannenboob who threw around 120 million down the toilet on Holmes and Suckchez.

Doubt they'll fool Maccagnan

Exactly and he damn sure isn't worth the contract he is under now so it probably is a smokescreen. I don't think anyone will pay him $10 mil and the Jets better not do it!

it's not realistic to think that harvin will sign with the jets if we cut him, especially at that reasonable of a price. once we cut him, he will go looking for the highest dollar, and all things being equal, go to a team with a good offense and a strong (or at least stable) QB position. he has no ties to bowles or gailey, and the jets have an unsettled QB situation. so imo, if we cut him, the only way he resigns here is if we make the best offer on the street. maybe it's not $10 mil, but $4-5 mil won't get it done when 31 other teams can bid for him as well.

Your probably right and that may be to much of a low-ball offer for him but does he really deserve more then $4-5 mil, $6 mil at max? Will anyone pay him what a Dez or Thomas or even a Maclin or Cobb will get? Will anyone even pay him what Decker is getting? They better not and the Jets definitely better not. If he wants to play hard-ball then so long because he isn't worth anymore then $6 mil max to me. Plus the Jets have to save that 4th round draft pick to Seattle.

Have the Pats said as much? If not, there's no news here. If so, it's tampering, no different than Woody with Revis.

I don't see it. Don't they already have two Harvin-like players in Amendola and Edelman? Now they're going to add a big money version of the same player? Don't see it. I call BS.

Me, too.

Somebody just trying to stir things up. "You better sign Harvin or the Patriots are coming!" (Enter Friday the 13th scary music).

Let's not forget, THEY HAVE NO MONEY! Their cap space is nil right now. That will change with Revis, but if they keep him, it will still take up most of the space they have. And they have already deferred as much money as humanly possible. You can only kick the can down the road so far.

They will get linked to EVERY free agent, but they are extremely limited in what they can do.

Plus the clock that even Coach Satanchick can't cheat is still ticking loudly and Fag boy will be 38+ old when they kick off the 2015 season

If we cut Harvin, I doubt very seriously he or his agent will want to come back to the Jets for less money.

We need White or Cooper.

And they don't need him. They can cheat their way to another SB without him!!

interesting little note on harvin and the jets ability to cut him and then re-sign him:

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets

It appears the Jets are trying to get Percy Harvin to restructure the four years, $41 million remaining on his contract. The deadline is March 19. If he's on the roster then, the conditional draft pick they owe the Seattle Seahawks goes from a sixth rounder to a fourth rounder. You might be wondering why not circumvent it by cutting him before March 19 and re-signing him at a later date? Per the trade agreement, they'd have to wait until the draft to avoid surrendering the fourth rounder. By then, Harvin almost certainly would be on another team.

Both Cooper & White are better pure outside WR's, they are taller, faster, younger, cheaper, healthier, with no "baggage". It makes no sense to bring Harvin back @ 10.5 million. Lets throw that $$$$ @ other free agents and draft White or Cooper and keep our lucky 4th round pick.

We need White, Cooper or Parker regardless. Having Harvin at a reasonable price would just be the icing on the cake. If he and his agent want to play hard ball, cut his ass and let him walk to another team.
