Pats interested in Harvin

:). Pretty easy to say that until he's an annual pro bowler catching 100 balls per season and double digit TDs annually. It just sucks the patriots are so much smarter than us and know what to do with talent.

Like Ocho Cinco, Albert Haynesworth, Shaun Ellis..........

You're so silly, like Revis, Browner, Harrison, Vrabel, Dillon, Welker, Moss, Seau, and they even found a use for Woodhead...

You like Browner with the Pats? I thought he committed too many penalties and looked awfully slow. I didn't think he was worth it. 55, do you think there's any way McCourtey shakes free?

I don't like browner at all, but he does provide options, positional flexibility, and with McCourtyover the top, a bad ass to jam WRs to disrupt timing. I thought he played awesome in the super bowl.

Was Seau a "great signing?" Nah, was he an excellent 2 down LB and solid compliment to Bruschi? Absolutely. Browner isn't special alone, but he's a perfect compliment to go with Revis and MCCourty.

As for MCCourty, minus that crystal ball I keep borrowing from you, here's what I think - 1 of 2 things is going to happen - 1) Revis deal gets done and McCourtygets tagged, or 2) they cut guys like Browner, Amendola, etc to still tag him. My guess is they have a plan for if the Revis deal gets done or not. The Revis deal likely has a bigger impact on if they keep vereen, Ridley, Ayers, or the OG Collins.

Also note, the patriots aren't dumb, they can void Wilforks deal this year with no dead cap due to a team option. Wouldn't be shocked if something happens to free up that$4 mill bonus he's scheduled to obtain ina couple weeks.

They have some dead wood that can be cut to keep MCCourty.

It makes sense for the Pats to have interest in Harvin. As long as Brady can still play at a high level, Pats will be Supe contenders. And Harvin is perfect for what Brady does in the short-intermediate passing game. And being a supreme gadget player, Harvin can be schemed in a variety of ways to get him in space where he can explode for big chunk plays-TDs.

I'm also sure other perennial contending teams may want to rent him for a year...maybe two, believing that Harvin can help catapult them all they way to the Supe. But it won't be for probably more then half his current salary. Due to him being often injured. And not having a significant impact with a team since the 2011 season.

If Harvin doesn't want to take a pay cut...then that means he would rather play for less with those contenders. And not for the rebuilding Jets.

So be it. Jets can't afford to look like fools spending silly money on a always injured Harvin, when they have other veterans like MoWilk, Damian Harrison and David Harris expecting to negotiate new contracts. You can't set a bad precedent of obviously overpaying Harvin simply because you have the CAP space to do it. Cause you won't have that $pace for long if you approach contracts that way.

Then there's the 4th round vs the 6th round you have to give up. Picking 6th in every round of the draft makes that 4th pick even more precious for rebuilding the Jets talent base for the long run.

Will see what happens. But I won't be surprised if Harvin is not a Jet come March 19th.
