But you CAN argue that if Bowles is such a great commodity, WHY didn't the Miami Dolphins keep him?
Because when you fire Sparano hire Philbin you let Philbin hire HIS guys. Interims know that from day one.

I respectfully disagree that this is a fair comparison

coaches change teams all the time and some even get poached by new regimes coming in can't fault him for moving around.

We have lost three threads to this Rex Ryan defending.

This thread is hilarious in itself. It's supposed to be about the name change, turned into why the Jets should be called the NJ Jets and now how Rex Ryan has gotten fired unfairly lol. Let this one be derailed but I will get the others back on track.

I am with you. My post was not saying that Rex didn't have success, it was that the last three coaching changes brought on success for us for at least the first year.

Comparing, Sanchez to Vinny/Chad is not even close. However, our roster with Rex those first two years were stacked. We went all in and got pretty close. If we had Vinny, Chad or Favre, we are carrying the Lombardi.

:football-trophy-smi

Look what happened in 1999 after we lost Vinny game 1 the Tuna started the year at 1-6 until the Tuna got a clue and put in Ray Lucas, good QB play matters.. How was the 09 team stacked?? Other then Revis and the O-line and TJ God knows Rex never did anything for the O right?? Bringing in Edwards a former number 1 pick was it.. Who were the stacked players??

LOL, not sure if there is much in common there apart that both men are black and have made their way up the ranks up coaching CBs.

But they weren't a long lasting solution, so what's the point? Did we championships with them? We didn't with Rex Ryan either, but we came a hell of a lot closer with him. The guy has the goods and he's going to put it to good use in Buffalo of all places. Sure a little playoff success? That's nice. The test of time showed they were totally outclassed by BB. When we had Rex, he showed that if you give him the talent, this guy can go tit for tat with BB and prevail - even in Fagsboro. Lets just see if this guy Bowles can do anything even close to that.

You're right. 2010 was more stacked than 09. But in 2009, we had the top oline, Revis, Bart Scott, Thomas Jones, Braylon, Keller, and Kris Jenkins.

I miss Jenkins man! What a beast that guy was.

If the coaching pedigree was with Todd Bowles, the Miami Dolphins would have recognized that and kept him.

So do I. Kris Jenkins was a f*cking animal. It's truly unfortunate that guys like that do not grow on trees.

Jenkins played just 7 games for Rex in 2 years(In 2010 was hurt in game one and done for good) and Leon 7 and was cut after he broke his leg.. But Big Jenks was hell when he was well.. That Titan center he was abusing was Kevin Mawae..LOL

The Jets have no strategy. They'll f*ck this draft up just like the last 4. Even worse, they hired two f*cking nobodies to run the draft. At this point, their draft will consist of Vernon Gholston at number 6, Vlad Ducasse in the 2nd round, Anthony Schlegel in the 3rd, Jalen Saunders in the 4th, Joe McKnight in the 5th and complete garbage that won't last a week in camp in the 6th and 7th. Face it this team sucks a fat one and they are going to be the laughingstocks of the league.

The post above is one of Mainejet's typical post from another Jet board. If I'm wrong about him being a true Jet fan I apologize;however, it sound like a Patriot fan to me ? Even Jetman10 was not this abusive of the Jets. Just saying to the Mods to screen more carefully, or we'll be looking for another Jet friendly board.

Go Jets...Cyborg

I tend to give a guy the benefit of the doubt. He says he's a died-in-the-wool Jets fan, and I believe him. Never saw him making posts saying he was happy about a Pats win, for example. Just being highly critical of the team does not mean he is anti-Jet. It's just like politics. You can hate the current administration without hating the USA, for example. But you do have to be careful how you express criticisms of the Jets when your screen name indicates a New England connection. I think it's only natural that readers will be predisposed to think you are a Pat fan. No sense feeding the fire.

I do think that the Bills will show improvement this year and so will the Jets and Miami. It will be a tough battle for the 2nd place in the AFCE.

The reason I think the Jets will have success is because we have a new coach. I think history for the Jets in recent years shows that a new regime brings in a good first season. Herm went 10 - 6, Mangini went 10 - 6, and Ryan went 9 - 7 with an appearance to the AFC Championship Game.

Thanks for the recap. I'm feeling inspired!

Agreed, love Rex Ryan or not. you have to be somewhat hopeful that Bowles will do a great job. He comes off very knowledgeable in his interviews.
