Defensive Line rotations are sinking the team

Like I just posted Quinnen Williams only plays 62% of the game snaps per game...
JFM another starter is only playing 54% of the defensive snaps...
Shaq Lawson has most snaps at 74% which is mind boggling...

The other defensive linemen have also been rotational.
Folorunso Fatukasi has played 56 percent of the snaps.
Sheldon Rankins is at 54 percent.
Nathan Shepherd is at 35 percent.

The objective is to keep those guys as fresh as possible, especially when you get to those two-minute situations at the end of half, at the end of game, so they can give you everything they got. Four straight shots and get off the field.”

You should ramp up the snap count from a limit of 40 snaps total for Q. who is arguably the best interior d lineman we have...

JFM like Q. would excel with more snaps and moved inside...

With Huff coming back, and the no reason why Shaq Lawson are getting the most snaps per game then add in rotation with someone like Ward on the outside would improve setting the edge while being able to plug the interior with two guys able to stuff the run while pass rush... key situational downs can bring in Rankins and/or Foley even Sheperd but what ever Saleh's idea and snap count is killing the defense and the supposedly the anchor of the front 7...

Saleh feels Defensive stops are more important once your down by 35 plus points. He's betting on us really getting going by the 5th qtr.

you nailed it. there is a reason that this team cannot stop the run, run stunts, or get pressure CONSISTENTLY...key word is consistent. there is nothing consistent about our defensive front.

my front is HUFF...QUINNEN...RANKINS...JMF.

Foley, nor Shepard show any type of pass rushing prowess at all. I like having both of them on the team, but having them in the game makes the opposing passing game better.

First & 2nd down hold offenses to 3rd and Long can then bring in Rankins & Foley...

But subbing DL players in and out constantly doesn't help the players build continuity or chemistry because no one knows when or if they are playing...

JFM is a run defender who can stunt and twist and swim moves on the inside to pressure and collapse the pocket...
Q. like JFM does the same thing but with brute force...

Defense played well the first half and then INTs happen putting a tired Defense right back on the field and that kind of loss will happen. The Offense turn overs was the problem Sunday. The entire Jets team isnt close to being built! I been saying over a year that Jets needs a Center who lead the Offense and helps calling out blitzes and help QB.

the line cannot slow down the run for the backers, and they cannot bring heat to keep the d-backs from covering over 3 seconds.

i i like the idea of getting Zuniga on the outside and JFM in the middle with Q. those two would definitely garner doubles allowing #47 & #92 one on ones.

Titans game was good example of Defense working. No time for Titans QB to test our CBs like Bills game, who had plenty of time to pass and test our young CBs.

WADR, i just have to disagree. we have been conditioned into that mind set, but history has taught us it's just not correct. we have good depth to sub players...Rankins, Foley, and Shep can come in and do a decent job for a play, but to allow second stringers to take reps from first string talent is asking for an Offense to take complete advantage of us!!

Did Buffalo sub their first string Oline when we put in our second string talent?

Everyone calm down. I didnt expect this team to do well with the Offense we have. I didnt think we was going to "not "be able to RUN the ball to rest our Defense. BIG mean, Beast RB to hammer Defenses like Titans have to go with our Jets finess RB. Thats the First thing I would have got to help this Jets half built Jets team. Running helps our QB and Defense. Def needs a Vet Center thats tough and smart next year on list of BIG Beast RB and number 1 WR and couple Pass Rushers and CBs. Add that next year and we will see a big difference in Jets.

Btw, Jets Starters on Defense is a big jump from Back ups at certain positions and can see it on front 7 plainly. So yeah Offense keeping the ball so the Defense isnt on field for 45 mins of a 1hr game isnt going to work. Taking Jets big Defensive Players off the field caused they are tired and say back ups are as good isnt true and not sure how you can think this when Im looking right at it. Offense caused this disaster . Could see Jets was fine the first half 10 to 3 but after Offense turn over ball and 3 and out over and over our D was gassed and back ups sucked.

a.) i watched the whole game.
b.) i never saw a time when the Bills Secondary was on the field at the same time as the Jet's Secondary to force the Jet's secondary to turn the ball over.
c.) who ever reported this to you lied...and didn't watch the game.

Having said that, you do make a good point about if we turn the ball over, the D has to play more snaps which will make it necessary to play reserves. However, i say let's cross that bridge when we get there. Play your best talent first, and see if we can get turnovers and 3 & outs before putting our second string in against opposition's first string.

One problem with your assessment, over the last 3 games the jets D has actually played the 6th fewest snaps in the league, and the 4th fewest vs Buffalo.

I would run the ball at that front 3 time and move the chains all the way to the end zone. All those guys are up the field rushers and none of them are good enough at pass rushing to worry about. All except Q suck at stopping the run . The Jets needed to have the two kids developed on the outside for this whole year with Mosley in the middle guiding them. Kids got injured, Mosley is on the outside and the DL can’t set the edge or clogg the middle.
