Houston Texans
Even a pouring rainstorm didn't put a damper on the Houston Texans, who snapped their eight-game losing streak with a 22-13 win in Tennessee.

The Texans defense picked off Titans QB Ryan Tannehill four times while special teams added a takeaway on a muffed punt return. QB Tyrod Taylor completed 14-of-24 for 107 yards, no interceptions and rushed six times for 28 yards and two touchdowns.

"It's tough to win in this league no matter who you play, and we tell our guys this," Head Coach David Culley said. "At this point in the season, records don't matter. Records do not matter."

With the triumph, the Texans also ended the Titans' six-game winning streak and their own 17-quarter streak without a touchdown on the road.

"With eight weeks of losses, that's tough to go through as a coach, as a player, as an organization," Taylor said. "But it was great to come out and get this win on the road today versus a team that was hot."

The Texans improved to 2-8 on the season and will return to NRG Stadium for a three-game home stretch against the New York Jets, the Indianapolis Colts and the Seattle Seahawks.

New York Jets

The Jets (2-8) dropped a 24-17 decision to the Dolphins (4-7) on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Joe Flacco threw for 291 yards and 2 TDs in his first start this season, WR Elijah Moore had a scintillating afternoon with 141 receiving yards and 1 TD and S Ashtyn Davis recorded his first career INT, but the home club never held a lead and fell to 0-4 in the AFC East.

There were a number of lineup changes for the Jets as Laurent Dunervay-Tardif started at RG while Quincy Williams, Elijah Riley and Isaiah Dunn got the call at LB, S and CB. Head coach Robert Saleh's club came back to tie the game at 7 and then at 14, but the 'Fins went on a 10-point run and secured the road victory as Tua Tagovailoa hit on 82% of his passes for 273 yards with 2 TDs and Myles Gaskin added 89 yards on the ground. The Jets let opportunities slip out of their grasp, finishing 1-of-4 in the red zone and they also had a pair of missed field goals from Matt Ammendola (54 and 40 yards).

Rookie QB Zach Wilson, who went through an extensive workout during pregame warm-ups, missed his fourth consecutive game after suffering a PCL sprain against the Patriots on Oct. 24.

Moore Ascends to Another Level

On a day when rookie RB Michael Carter exited with an ankle injury, the Jets got a huge game out of fellow first-year player in Moore. Targeted 11 times from Flacco, Moore had 8 receptions for 141 yards, both career highs, and a touchdown. Down 14-7 facing third-and-8, he toasted veteran CB Byron Jones as the Dolphins paid dearly on a blitz with Flacco spotting the electric receiver with no safety in sight. The 62-yard catch-and-run was the Jets' longest play of the season and tied the game at 14.

"Elijah has been getting better every week," Saleh said. "Really pumped for him. He's starting to get into a rhythm. He had the explosive play, which we all know he's capable of. He's stacking up days and he's only going to get better. He's going to be a special kid."

Turning It Over

After allowing an 83-yard TD drive to start the game, the Jets defense came up with its third INT of the season on Miami's ensuing possession. John Franklin-Myers made Tagovailoa uncomfortable with a pressure and the second-year QB threw an errant toss that Davis, a fellow second-year player, came up with as he dove to the ground. That was Davis' first-career takeaway.

"I was just skating in the post," he said. "It was an overthrown ball and we have to make the most the most any time there's a tip or overthrow."

While the Jets were able to turn the theft into a touchdown, the Dolphins took points off the board in the second quarter. After the Jets had advanced to the Miami 5-yard line, Flacco was rocked on a blindside blitz by S Brandon Jones and the Dolphins ultimately came up with possession when S Jevon Holland recovered a Christian Wilkins fumble at the 23.

"We broke the huddle fast, tried to get up on the line and snap," Flacco said of the play. "We snapped it right away, we tried to get a pick-flat. He ended up being open there, but the guy jumped up on the line, so I kind of double clutched it and [Jones] came free."

When asked what the offense's next steps are, Flacco said: "I think it's a cliché thing to talk about how much you beat yourself week in and week out, but after being in there this week and seeing the few mistakes that we've made, it's getting over the hump with that sort of stuff, so we can get out of our own way and worry about the opponent. I think the amount of mistakes that happen in the game with us right now is really making it hard to get things done and crawl out of a little hole. Today, we crossed midfield and as soon as we get over there, a couple things bite us in the butt. I think if we can do that, if we can really focus in on making less mistakes, the game will come to us a little more."

If we win this game I won’t complain and if we lose I won’t get upset.
If as gmf1369 say we’re not going to take Thibbs then it really doesn’t matter where we end up top 5 does it

It’s funny but on yesterday when I was talking about Thibs that’s the guys I wanted to mention as us passing on if we didn’t take this cat provided he was available at our pick .
knowing the reaction I would receive for even mentioning Thins in the same sentence with LT, I erased his name from my post .
That scout is dead on about Thibs IMO and it’s going to take a decent line coach to improve his run defense which isn’t even that bad .

Sad to say that the Jets will most likely lose this game to the Texans but they most likely will. I'm truly looking forward to seeing Zach Wilson playing again.

the win would be seeing Zach play better - specifically taking the easier stuff and showing some patience. If I only got that, I'd be content.

Hmm, I actually want Zach to take easier passes in begining and then start passing down field. But he has got to take what Defenses give him. If thats short easy screen or 5yds passes take it. If they take away short ,use that gun to fire it on 30--40yd passes. Main thing is moving the Offense foward before o line falls apart. Dont wait on WRs when in trouble, bean them in the head. Nothing worse is QB in trouble and WRs running around not looking for the ball. Used to happen to my son and I yelled at him to bean those idiots. Coaches and fans yelling at WRs not looking for pass hiting them in back, head, chest and QB not blamed. Lmao

Jets-Texans Game Preview | Zach Wilson Returns to a Developing Offense

isxiopaoivhothdl94vo.jpg

As the Jets (2-8) return to action against the Texans (2-8) following Thanksgiving Day, Jets head coach Robert Saleh is thankful for his new home, his new team and the return of his rookie QB to the lineup.

"We're glorified military, right, we've lived in Jacksonville [2014-16], Seattle [2011-13], Houston [2005-10], San Francisco [2017-20]," Saleh said this week of his wife, Sanaa, and family that has expanded to seven children. "And she's here and she's like, 'God, this is home, this is our forever home,' like this is where she wants to be. This is where she wants the kids to be raised. And she just absolutely loves it here.

"And you can feel the fan base is so ready to explode and have a team that it can be proud of on a week-in, week-out basis. And it's something that we're really excited to deliver on."

In his first season with the Green & White, Saleh began last week with a message to those fans desperate for a winner.

"I respect the heck out of the urgency from the fans and the wanting to flip this thing, but in fairness, this is the first time this fan base is actually experiencing something like this," he said. "Usually it's been a quick fix, followed by a scramble. This is an actual plan.

"I feel like Joe [Douglas] is doing a phenomenal job with a really, really concise plan on how to build from the ground up and there are a lot of exciting pieces on this team that are hidden in these losses."

After part of rebuilds in Houston, Seattle, Jacksonville and San Francisco, Saleh was disappointed by his team's latest outcome as self-inflicted wounds and wasted opportunities led to a 24-17 loss against the Dolphins in Week 11. But the patient teacher has not been shaken by growing pains.

"You have a nucleus of these young guys who are growing and doing things right away," he said. "So despite the record, and we all want to win, there are so many great things happening in this organization that it's going to be very explosive in the very near future."

Rookie QB Zach Wilson will make his seventh start to the season, in Houston, becoming the third different signal-caller to start for the Green & White in as many games.

"That's going be exciting for him to get back out there," Saleh said. "I know he's champing at the bit, he's been wanting to get up back out there. He's been waiting to get fully cleared and fully healthy. Monday was a good day for him with workouts and rehab and all that, and we got the thumbs up, and off we go."

The Jets offense has taken flight the past four games without Wilson, averaging 346.5 pass yards while playing three passers. Since Week 8, it's also ranked No. 1 in passing TDs (10) and passing first downs (74) in addition to ranking No. 9 in yards/attempt (7.61).

"The O-line and the receivers and tight ends and backs, they've all been able to take a step over the last month," Saleh said. "So just slide right in and utilize all that all that improvement that's been that's been happening around him and just deliver the ball to the playmakers like he knows how and watch his playmakers go make plays."

Wilson believes he was on a parallel path as his teammates when Patriots OLB Matthew Judon drove him to the turf in the second quarter of a loss to New England on Oct. 24. He sustained a PCL sprain and has been a spectator for the past month.

"I felt like I was on the same path when I had gotten injured," he said. "I felt like every single week, going back and watching every game, whether you see it or not in the stat line or in wins or whatever, just based on the progress of grading your decision making every single play, I felt like every single week was getting better. And you see it hitting with those guys too. Like their understanding how to play the NFL game, and they're going to be great one day in this league and they are right now. They're doing an awesome job."

With Mike White and Joe Flacco on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Josh Johnson is expected to be Wilson's backup vs. the Texans. Houston gives up yards (30th, 389.3 Yds/G0 and points (29th, 27.1 Pts/G), but the Texans are an opportunist defensive unit that had 5 takeaways in last Sunday's win over the Titans and are tied for fourth with 19 takeaways. While RB Michael Carter will miss time with a low-grade high-ankle sprain and WR Corey Davis is dealing with a groin injury, Wilson will work with one of the NFL's hottest players in Elijah Moore, who has 5 TDs in his last 5 games and receiving TDs in three consecutive games.

"I'm just excited," Wilson said. "Just that rush, that feeling you get just to be back on the field, it's exciting. Just happy to be back with the guys."

Saleh, who began his NFL coaching career with the Texans in 2005 as a defensive intern, continues to work on his forever home with the Jets and Wilson, the No. 2 overall selection in April's draft, is a critical piece of the foundation.

"He was getting better and we felt like he was about to go off in the New England game before he got hurt," Saleh said. "So you know pick up where he left off and just focus on the main thing, which is getting better and find ways to move the offense and score points."

We lose this one. Down two scores at half……. Lose 21-17 Offense doesn’t do shit in first half, comes alive halfway thru 3rd and runs outta time in the 4th. Defense gives up 7 on opening drive…. 7 more late 1st half , final 7 mid 4th …..
