We had the picks to trade up and reports said a deal was in place but we backed out... But the point is he made bad decisions and needed to go. glad he landed on his feet but glad he is gone
His butt puckered under pressure..never traded up or down in the draft to secure talent, he prefered to sit and settle, which is also he he approached free agency. No sense of urgency, complete disregard for free agents and their time, wouldn't even show up for free agent visits. One of the more unprofessional GMs I have ever heard of.
Imagine bosses not even showing up for job interviews. Kind of embarrassing. People can make excuses all day for the bad situation he was put in, but the guy never even showed up when one of the biggest free agents came to New York to visit, DRC, because he was too busy pretending to be a scout. No legit GM does that. He even told Emmanual Sanders dont even bother coming to New York because he wanted to scout Amaro. Ahem, you're a GM, not a scout, you can at least be available for job interviews...
He was over his head, whether this was a good situation or not. He was hired to do a job he was not professionally adequate to manage. He is in a more appropriate role now. Good for him and great for us.
