I'm glad he landed on his feet. Woody didn't do either him or Rex any favors 2 years ago.

The problem was a major part Idzik is not a player personnel guy... Let's remember all the rumors of Idzik didn't want Revis or Cromartie back when the rest of the Jets FO and Coaching Staff did.... As well as the rumors that FO and Staff wanted to draft ODB jr or Benjamin in RD 1 and he wanted Pryor.... I think where there is smoke there is fire..... Whether rumors are true or not but based on results and the fact Woody fired him quickly, I would say they are... Not to mention it was clear Idzik didn't know what to do with the cap money he had... His plan and his player choices failed miserably... With that said I agree Woody did him no favors but the guy is more than 50% to blame... Now as a cap guru.. He'll be great... He needed to trust his personnel guys and coaches and he didn't

I agree. He was put in a tough spot. Though he could have done a better job last off season, he was in a difficult position. I always thought he was a classy guy, and I never bought into the billboard nonsense.

Couldn't agree more... glad he is or will be employed but he got what he deserved. the team was a shambles last season and he is partly to blame.

I'm happy for him. He should have never taken the job under the condition Woody laid out. It was doomed from the start.

Idzik set us up real good for this year and did half his job real well. Lots of cap space. The other half of his job, not so well -- very little talent on this team at critical positions. He is not a personnel man and relied on our crappy scouting department. Mac came in and cleaned house. To me that speaks volumes.

If Idzik would of stayed, I would have no confidence that he would be able to use the 6th pick or the cap space correctly. We are in much better hands.

He was a very good cap guy

And a terrible personnel guy and football talent guy

Exactly what Tanny was for a decade.

Only difference really, is that Idzik preferred doing little while Tanny liked big (and usually bad) splashes

Sanchez, Holmes, Tebow...

I don't hate the guy..like other people alluded to..hes not a personnel guy...but everyone should just remember..when the Jets are reaping Free agent benefits this off season when it starts..it will be highly fueled by his cap management skills in year one of his regime to get the JEts out of salary cap hell at the time and freed up money that was inherited from Tanny's careless and wasteful spending he did.....

Not sure how great he managed the cap...he cut Sanchez and Holmes and got rid of Cro and Revis, poof, cap room. Not exactly rocket science, cut talent, dont replace it...otherwise known as slash and burn. Check our record last year, confirmed, that's what he did, our record went right out the door with our talent, but at least we have cap roomand high draft picks.

We had the picks to trade up and reports said a deal was in place but we backed out... But the point is he made bad decisions and needed to go. glad he landed on his feet but glad he is gone

His butt puckered under pressure..never traded up or down in the draft to secure talent, he prefered to sit and settle, which is also he he approached free agency. No sense of urgency, complete disregard for free agents and their time, wouldn't even show up for free agent visits. One of the more unprofessional GMs I have ever heard of.

Imagine bosses not even showing up for job interviews. Kind of embarrassing. People can make excuses all day for the bad situation he was put in, but the guy never even showed up when one of the biggest free agents came to New York to visit, DRC, because he was too busy pretending to be a scout. No legit GM does that. He even told Emmanual Sanders dont even bother coming to New York because he wanted to scout Amaro. Ahem, you're a GM, not a scout, you can at least be available for job interviews...

He was over his head, whether this was a good situation or not. He was hired to do a job he was not professionally adequate to manage. He is in a more appropriate role now. Good for him and great for us.
