Jets Sign K Alex Kessman, Release K Matt Ammendola

The Ammendola cut, first reported by Jeané Coakley of SNY, means that Kessman must have won the open competition this week. He'll get his shot at showing he's worthy of the job over the next six games. Kessman, who made 72% of his field goals at Pitt, has never attempted an NFL field goal in regular season or preseason action.

That much is true but starting with 2 missed point afters doesn't scream you made the right choice. Maybe we can chalk it up to first game jitters if he's still on the roster next week.

I know but he kept hitting the crossbar on 45 yard attempts... not left or right kept up coming short... 3 failed attempts out of 10...

Then we still don't have a reliable kicker which has been a problem for quite some time now. I hope Kessman can get his act together this week.
