oh heaven's, i hope that is not the case, and Mount Becton comes back physically "and" (more importantly) mentally ready to roll.
that would be a massive setback to have a first round LT not pan out.
i am not worried so much about him physically, but more from a psychological stand point. when i listen to him, i hear a young man who is overwhelmed and slightly depressed.
he tried to say all of the right things while Carl Lawson was eating his lunch all summer, but i didn't feel it...it felt like it made him wither.
but then again, he might be the sort who cannot exact punishment on his teammates and having Carl do that in the public eye made a fragile ego collapse; that isn't to say he won't take it out on opponents...and we saw that last year when he was healthy.

oh my concerns aren't mental - just physically able to hold up...2 seasons........2 injuries that interrupted playing in games. Just can't leave themselves relying on the Morgan Moses' of the world any longer. A draft pick high gives them flexibility in 2022 with Fant on board and protect against Becton being hurt again. Fant then can likely bolt after 2022 for big money.
if those are also the concerns of the HC & GM, then i think it is reasonable for them to consider what he is now worth in terms of picks?
a 2nd or 3rd...or maybe a 4th can get you the RT to replace Moses and/or Fant, leaving one of the firsts to replace him at LT.
imo, the physical and mental considerations morph into each other...if he's not right mentally or from a maturity stance, then the work to become a "work horse" is impacted, but depression/maturity issues also lead to a lack of focus, and injuries are a certainty when that happens.

People thought I was crazy saying we should trade him last offseason. Would have gotten as much as Miami did for Tunsil. An extra first and second last year plus an additional first this year. Last year was stacked with stud o lineman. Could have gotten 2 tackles plus AVT, and every other selection we made.

Can’t get paid much less than a LT that can’t stay on the field. Although, RT is no guarantee against injury either.
