Coach is probably a dead man walking
he already threw a sheep to the wolves in firing of Joe Brady...
it probably gave him one more year to prove he is worth a damn...

I watched the Panthers vs. Vikings earlier this year. Sam looked horrendous for 3 quarters.
McCaffery was out, receivers couldn't catch...the whole nine yards.

Then, they had to go hurry up in the 4th, and Sam was directing everything...he looked like a surgeon.
It reminded me of the BUFF Game his rookie season; the one when he found Robby for a score on a sick scrambling drill.

The book on Sam isn't closed.

Sam needs to go to a place where there is no QB Whisperer, or Guru...just a sound offensive game plan with an OC that allows him to be free.
Sam has all of the goods, and when he just plays, is an exciting QB.

if Sam took Parcells's advice to Vinny in '98, and simply pulled it down after going thru 3 options, and ran for some yards instead of forcing the issue, i bet he would find his windows on his 1 thru 3 options would start getting wider.

too many gurus and whisperers don't allow these kids to do what Fitzpatrick, Jackson, Allen, Mahomes, Rodgers, (and hopefully after his 92
yard performance he sees the light & continues) Wilson to do...extend drives any way possible; and encourage him to run.

Let Sam be a player, and he will be fine.

Ok, I am ready...let the chorus of scoffs at that notion begin.

he needs a bona fide OC and/or offensive HC to get anywhere - he has a lot of physical talent, but hasn't been able to adequately read defenses yet. Until someone figures out his head, he will continue to tease and disappoint. The history of QBs in the NFL is littered with these guys unfortunately.

IMHO, i think the "recent" NFL History is littered with wannabee OC's with (implied sarcasm) brilliant offensive strategies who are given young skulls full of mush to mold into Elite QB's, and the trail of flops ensue.

when i listen to Josh Allen or Mahomes speak, i am not listening to Pulitzer Prize Winning Authors when they are discussing the intricacies of moving safety's to assist on an inside crossing route to open a deep slant one on one. Nor, do they play like that. What i see when they play are D's who are scared $h!tless of the crossing route, the deep slant, and one of them pulling it down for a long ground gainer.

that isn't to say that they haven't or will not ever pick up the ability to move defenders or recognize coverages, but they have been encouraged and allowed to be young QB's, and learn through repetition...which takes staying on the field to digest what just happened.

guys like Sam are headcases, because (ex.) the intricacies of moving safety's to assist on an inside crossing route to open a deep slant one on one are the only thing they concentrate on.

that stuff will come the more they are on the field. they will be on the field more when they understand it's ok use their athletic ability while they are learning to be NFL QB's.

Put him on the Patriots or let him backup Dak in Dallas and then a final judgment can be made on Darnold. We know he can be really bad, but he has at least some potential. I like the kid as a person and he was given a bad hand here with the Jets. Not much better in Carolina, but with a healthy McCaffrey he was pretty decent.
