Running back room shelled out this year

Led by rookie Michael Carter from North Carolina, he showed his potential as an every down back...
Saw flashes of Austin Walter and what he can bring to the table...
As long as Ty Johnson stays in the good graces of the O.C., he can be a weapon in both the run attack and pass downs...

These three are something to look forward with next year...
If they target someone either in FA or the draft will only bolster this group...

So what are your thoughts of these three and the future?
Tevin Coleman also was productive but he is a free agent and that talk belongs in said sticky thread...

But these three above are under contract and we know they should all be majorly involved with the offense next year, so what you say peeps...

i like the fact that you stated Carter was "an every down back".
I hate when backs get pigeon holed as a "utility", "change of pace", or "scat back" because they don't check the height and weight boxes.

they come in all sizes!

We do need a monster type of back who can do some tough sledding against teams like BUFF, BALT, PITT.
perhaps, Hassan Haskins out of MI.

Carter was "an every down back".
running backs are rare creatures there are players that are elusive, receiving or power backs...
rarely do you get a guy like Michael Carter, Alvin Kamara that can do it all..
they are dangerous runners,
they are dangerous receivers out of the backfield
they are willing to lower the pads and power run short yardage

thing is he wasn't awful when he ran the ball. Can't say I know of his blocking skills but I imagine that is problem #1. Beyond that he was hurt a lot and never got up to speed. Needs a massive offseason program.

Perine has a lot to prove or he gone
he doesn't fit the style running back that LaFleur employs...

Perine is that typical one cut power back that LaFleur will not employ...
could see him being trade bait this off season...

monster type of back
they won't draft a power back
they like well rounded backs that can do it all
Carter is that type back that can do it all there are 5 in this draft that would be considered compliments to him...

Jerome Ford
Jerrion Ealy
Tyler Allgeier
Ty Chandler
Cam'Ron Harris

I like our running back room exactly the way it is . That guy who we won’t talk about in this topic is a solid piece who can return or be replaced by someone younger who’s exactly like him .

(not hating on the Rookie OC but)...the kind we could have carved a role for against a team like BUFF in the cold and wind?

The 5 backs who I'd like to see alongside of Michael Carter are...

Breece Hall (Iowa State).
Isaiah Spiller (Texas A&M).
Kenneth Walker III (Michigan State).
Brian Robinson Jr (Alabama).
Kyren Williams (Notre Dame).

One of these awesome RB prospects will fall into the 4th round and when they do; I'd love for JD to pounce on one of them (as he did with Michael Carter last draft).
omg it is not a competition on who likes what
I posted the players that would compliment Michael Carter

compliment, or mirror to replicate when Carter isn't in?
both but not need of changing the style because MC gives us the advantage for all scenarios...
so finding someone comparable gives that like you said mirror to replicate when Carter is not in...
Allgeier , Ealy and Ford are the closest matches with a bit more vigor in their pop...
Believe Ford and Ealy highlights are in the highlight forum...

You would do yourself a lot of good if you would pay attention to what the host of the forum says . He obviously has an insider and his information is sound .
Furthermore I happen to love this new approach because it reminds me of the way the Pittsburgh Steelers operate. You draft people that fit what you do not people who might be the BEST AVAILABLE TALENT .
For years the Jets have been taking the BAT and forcing round pegs into square holes . Apparently those days are done and I for one am applauding.

Both guys are impressive, but Ealy really grew on me particularly considering many of the highlights were against SEC foes like LSU and Texas A&M
former teammate of current wide receiver Elijah Moore... Ealy has the same makeup as Moore but is that Michael Carter hard nose RB that can hit the hole with patience and pop... He has the wheels to take the top off when in open space and shows ability to break arm tackles... Also a weapon out of the backfield, was limited in 2020 because he shared the backfield with Scottie Phillips but this year got to elevate his overall stock...
