Will Carl Lawson be ready??

In watching the Rams game tonight, Cam Akers looks pretty good. I believe he had an Achilles tear during camp, and I was wondering how long this injury takes to heal and whether the consensus thinks Lawson will be ready for camp?
Thoughts??

might be ready by week 10 the earliest...
usually this injury is 18 months recovery time...

Doesn’t matter when he’s ready. He won’t be back to what he was if ever until the 2023 season . We need help next year

it appears that the Achilles surgery has been modified, and the new prognosis for recovery is substantially less than the former more invasive methodology where the stitching is the major setback to faster recovery times.

one thing is for certain about Lawson, and that is his drive to not let injuries define his career. i am hopeful we get him closer to the start of training camp.

Akers is a lot younger than Lawson though.

Akers = 22 years old.
Lawson = 26 years old.

Those 4 years are a bigger difference than one would think because as an FSU fan I don't remember Cam Akers ever getting injured or seriously hurt. He played all 3 years for us.

However Carl Lawson? Sheesh.

1.) He missed his NCAA Sophomore year @ Auburn in 2014 due to a torn ACL.

2.) In 2018 as a 2nd year player @ Cincinnati, he suffered a season-ending injury because of (another) torn ACL.

3.) During the offseason of 2021, he suffered another season ending injury; but this time a ruptured Achilles’ tendon in his left leg.

2 torn ACLs and 1 Achilles injury before the age of 27? That is nuts.

I'm with gmf on this one. Rest and rehab him. Don't rush him back too early.

Because he's 1 serious injury away from probably never playing again (and we've yet to see how he'll even recover from this one).

a.) Although Lawson will reach the age faster than Akers where injuries will take longer to heal, he hasn't reached that age yet.

b.) it isn't his age that brought Akers back faster, it was the limitations to the swelling surrounding the repair.
** the lower the amount of swelling, the more rapidly the body's internal healing process can start to take place.

c.) let him return at his own pace...as much as we hear the term 110%, there is only 100%. if the tendon is 100%, then further rest means less time to work the surrounding muscles to take pressure off of the tendon.
** post swelling and stitch healing, full bore ahead...get the muscles ready to support the body, and get the tendon as flexible as possible as soon as possible.

Lastly, these surgeons, and their surgery success rate with new methodologies, are making what was once a Gold Standard antiquated over night.

Ex., Billy Sims was forced to retire...to...Bernard King needing two years...to...most players coming back from an ACL in an offseason.

I’m on the Cam Thomas San Diego State EDGE TRAIN as of this week. Next week we will see where I am lol . I think I’m also looking at going all offerne with the first 3 picks and the 3rd rounder also .

i am onto your former love, AK Arnold Ebiketie in the draft, as well as Sam Williams.

he is on the mend, and we do have to add to him, but he costs us massively if he isn't somewhat productive. so...i am hoping for the best.

Hope for the best but expect the worst. That’s all we can do, but they have to replace him.

I'm with you but instead I want to pull another 2021 and go Offense with our 1st 4 picks.

OT.
C.
WR.
TE.

And then use our 3rd/4th/4th/5th/5th next 5 picks all on Defense and then in 2023 also use our 1st, 2nd, 3rd round pick(s) on Defense too.

I believe in coach Saleh. I just want to see Zach Wilson surrounded by A+ talent on Offense this year.

In regards to Lawson. He shouldn't be depended on so therefore despite bust risks etc if one of either Hutchinson/Kayvon fall to #4? I think we've gotta cancel our Offensive Wish list and pull the trigger.

DE: Hutchinson/Kayvon.
DT: Quinnen Williams.
DT: John Franklin-Myers.
DE: Carl Lawson.

Scary.
That DL you listed had better be a 3rd down package or I would run at it all day long . As far as the offense is concerned I am not targeting a WR untethered 3rd round. I think I am talking theOT at 4, trading down from 10 and taking McBride with my 2nd 1st day pick . Then at 34 I am either taking Johnson (OG) or Cam Thomas with the other guy coming at 38 . From there it’s linebacker and either WR or back to the OL for a Cade Mays .

I think he'll be ready and if they make his uniform out of high impact resistant support rubber he has a good chance of making it through the season. I also think, on a more realistic assessment that another edge rusher, or two, will be added in free agency , draft, or both.
