Giants newly hired GM could make a blockbuster trade

Rumors now swirling that Joe Schoen has the task of figuring out and trying to fix former G.M. Dave Gettleman's roster mess. There is some speculation that Saquon Barkley could be dealt, to save his entire 2022 salary the question is to who and what will it take to make that deal happen. Will they try to fleece a team in picks, or could it be a player for player trade. Or will the new G.M. get input from the player to find a trade partner.

Could Joe Douglas bring the Jets fan back home where he should of been from day one?

Expectation is Daniel Jones will stay at least for this year but doesn't mean they won't delve in the draft for a new signal caller, same could be said for an offensive lineman because their OL has been one of the worst consistently the past 5 years.

Over The Cap has the Giants currently at $6.94 million OVER an expected $208.2 million 2022 salary cap. That likely means few of the team’s pending free agents will be brought back.

Players like cornerback James Bradberry ($21.863 million 2022 cap hit), linebacker Blake Martinez ($14.025M cap hit), wide receiver Sterling Shepard ($12.495M cap hit), tight end Kyle Rudolph ($7.408M cap hit), and Devontae Booker ($3M cap hit) could all be in jeopardy.

A couple of players could be on the trade block like Saquon 5th year is $7,217,000 but his injury past will make it hard for them to find a trading partner. Maybe two early day 3 picks could get it done with a player. 2022 4th with 2023 conditional 4th plus a player can make it happen for any team interested as the Giants have many needs.

The player, from the Giants, I think would help the Jets the most is probably Leo Williams, the ex-Jet.
Don’t know what is left on his contract, but him, next to Q, with a healthy Lawson and a high draft pick edge. Might make this dline hum.
He’s played much better, I think, in the 4-3.

I would be cautious with this. Barkley didn't look like the same player after that injury. Death for an RB. Don't know if I want to take the chance on a what is realistically a question mark. Sure I love that He was a Jet Fan growing up blah, blah,blah. When healthy he is a great back but is he healthy? I don't want to spend draft capital and cap space to find out.

Personally I hope Douglas steers clear of Barkley.
Three consecutive seasons shortened by injury
(Ankle/ ACL,MCL & Meniscus tears / Ankle) and he is going to want a massive payday. RB's have a short shelf life . Rather spend elsewhere and find Carter a complimentary back in the draft.
