To each our own but I don't believe a player with only 6 career TDs throughout the previous 3 NFL years should be paid anything close to $10M per season especially as a #4/#5 WR option.

I like Braxton Berrios. A lot. I just don't see him as a player who JD should over spend for. I love his heart and underdog mentality I'm just hoping he doesn't let All-Pro status get to his head.
What does Beasley make with the Bills ?

I could be wrong but there is a gut feeling that Folorunso Fatukasi won't be re-signed... He is a great run defender but his flexibility doesn't allow for stunts and counters from the front four...

Explosiveness off the line of scrimmage is key...
Pass rush arsenal must be more than bull rush, but being capable to spin, swim and rip is a must...
This way the four men up front can alternate the rush assignments and always bring the pressure while still containing the pocket...
Sheldon Rankins could be a cap casualty but he provides depth behind Quinnen... Rankins should not be played with Q, but sub for him...
It will be interesting how or who they feel the void but both Foley and Sheperd could be gone this off season, a shame but looks to be reality...

if one or both come back then maybe they will restructure the design up front to maximize all the skill sets but the reality is the athleticism, explosiveness and motors need to run hot were not there and is one of the reasons this defensive line let opponents gash them all year long...

I'm just hoping JD does better in FA than he did this year. Didn't get much return on the money he spent.

To be fair, my friend, that could easily be partially attributed to injuries.

For sure it’s because of injuries, but when does it go from being unlucky to not having a plan B? At the end of the day, JD picked some players like Lawson who were already damaged goods. Now maybe Curry was Plan B, but he is old with a lot of miles on him and anything could happen to an older athlete. I see lots of teams have lots of injuries and still successful. I know everyone thinks I hate JD, but I really don’t. He was tasked with turning around the worst franchise in sports and so far all I have heard is excuses to why it hasn’t happened or why it will take a decade to do so. So far his greatest achievement was firing Mac and then Gase.

Good grief Tebow that alone was HUGE........................................but you are right about Curry having a lot of miles on him but I seriously don't believe that he was brought on to be THE GUY as much as he was to be a fill in and teacher. It would appear, at least to me, that JD's mindset is to assemble a competitive team of young players laced with a few experienced quality players to help the young players develop faster and better. Just a thought from an old farts perspective.

I can relate to Tebow when it come to Free Agency. JD had done nothing in FA with a couple of exceptions and a few part-timers. Players either are injury prone, have nothing left in the tank or just can't play.

Tight End David Njoku 43rd best free agent this off season...
Currently 25, will turn 26 in July...
The former first-rounder has caught 148 passes (240 targets) for 1,754 yards (11.9 avg.) and 15 touchdowns over his career...

His market value is just under $7 M annual would offer him that contract where he would start as No. 1 TE but after two years of guarantees his contract could be moved thereafter giving any tight end prospect the chance to acclimate to this level...

4 year deal $27.6 M with guarantees $12 M guaranteed in the first two years and a deadline date after year two in which an additional $5 M could be guaranteed in the third year, but leaves the team the option to cut him before that 5th or 6th day of the new league year starts to trade or release him...

David Njoku would be an upgrade over Tyler Kroft...
Thoughts?

Funny, I mentioned him a while back and I thought you said he wasn’t a fit . Doesn’t matter , I like the idea of him or O J. Howard whoever wants to take our offer .

Njoku is an improvement over Kroft, but he isn’t a guy I want as a starter. He’s no Kelcie, Gronk, Kittle, or the guy in Dallas. Hell, he is no Gesecki, and I hate that guy. Tired of the patchwork retread guys at TE.

so these are the five safety names being whispered for possible Jets targets:

Sean Chandler
Jordan Whitehead
Marcus Williams
Terrell Edmunds
Malik Hooker

of this list two look to be tagged, but would be interesting to sign the top two, Chandler a FS and Whitehead a SS they actually fit this defense and would improve the backend with Ashtyn Davis, Elijah Riley and Jason Pinnock among the others that may compete moving forward...

I doubt Jessie Bates hits Free agency, but if he does. Every team will be driving his price tag higher and higher.

No idea who this guy is but from reading up on him he seems like training camp/practice squad material...
Played college ball at Middle Tennessee State...

At best he is a project, but we need camp bodies and there are some unrestricted free agents that won't be re-signed so this move not to replace said free agents but to bring competition during this off season... He is a raw safety with good field speed... His technique and his physical traits work in his favor and might be enough to compete for a roster spot...

Folorunso Fatukasi is one of the best free agents at his position

NY Jets defensive lineman Folorunso Fatukasi will arguably be the team's best pending free agent in 2022 and could attract plenty of suitors this offseason.

Fatukasi was recently ranked third on PFF's list of the top interior defensive linemen slated to hit free agency in 2022, behind Chicago Bears' Akiem Hicks and Baltimore Ravens' Calais Campbell.

He earned an overall PFF grade of 61.5 this past season, placing him roughly in the middle of the pack of all defensive linemen.

The defensive tackle has gained a reputation as an excellent defender against the run, posting PFF run-defense grades of 87.6 in 2019 and 86.2 in 2020.

While the Jets' run defense as a whole underperformed last season, Fatukasi showed his tactical awareness and athleticism in containing some of the league's best ball-carriers.

Fatukasi is in his fourth year in New York and is coming off one of his more productive seasons that saw him play a career-high 15 games. The defensive stalwart recorded 46 total tackles, five tackles for loss, and six quarterback hits and served as a quality run-stuffing nose tackle.

Currently, the Jets have solid starters in John Franklin-Myers, Quinnen Williams, and Sheldon Rankins, and you could make the case that the team could afford to let Fatukasi go.

Fatukasi will attract attention from all teams needing a defensive boost in the trenches. Though cap space likely won't be a problem for the Jets, PFF projects a three-year, $24 million dollar contract for the defensive tackle in 2022.

It'll be up to the Jets, head coach Robert Saleh, and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich to decide if Fatukasi fits in the team's defensive scheme.

Which Veteran Quarterback Should the New York Jets Sign This Offseason?

The Jets need to keep a veteran in their quarterback room to help foster Zach Wilson's development. Here are three options for the 2022 season.

1. Joe Flacco, 37, New York Jets

If both the head coach and starting quarterback want you back, that seems like a pretty good place to start. Joe Flacco returned to New York midway through the season, with the Jets trading a sixth-round pick to Philadelphia, and the return they got goes way beyond his contributions on the field. Zach Wilson used every chance he got to pick the brain of his veteran co-part, with Flacco applauding his eagerness when speaking after his start against the Miami Dolphins.

“As soon as me and him get together he's like a million questions," Flacco said. "It's all good, it's a lot of fun to see somebody that's just coming into the league and being able to talk to him is a lot of fun.”

Saleh had full support in bringing back Flacco this offseason, saying during his end-of-year presser “I don’t think anyone realizes how big of a deal that was in terms of just, even for me, I didn’t expect it to be the impact that I wasn’t expecting in terms of just the assist, in terms of developing the quarterback and the room in general.”

Flacco makes total sense for the Jets, but do the Jets make sense for Flacco? He’s already left once before and could aim for a backup spot on a playoff-contending team as he approaches the tail-end of his career. Saleh did say he’ll be very vocal to the front office about keeping Flacco in New York, so as long as he too wants to come back this deal should be all but done.

2. Chad Henne, 36, Kansas City Chiefs

As far as affordable, consistent and comfortable goes, Chad Henne is a great candidate for the backup role with New York. He’s currently playing his fourteenth season, fourth as the backup for the Kansas City Chiefs, and has earned an average salary of $2.6 million for his career. While his stints in Miami and Jacksonville were underwhelming, his longevity and ability to contribute when needed in Kansas City has carved a nice new role for himself.

Speaking of Jacksonville, Henne crossed paths with Robert Saleh during the 2014 and 2016 seasons—Henne serving as the backup quarterback and Saleh as their linebackers coach. Ron Middleton, the Jets current tight end coach, held the same title for those Jaguars teams as well.

The only glaring problem is convincing Henne to step away from being backup quarterback to Patrick Mahomes, a role that’s brought him to four straight AFC title games with a chance of three of those resulting in trips to the Super Bowl. However, should Kansas City look to get younger or more athletic at the backup spot, Henne would make a lot of sense in the green and white next season.

3. Brian Hoyer, 35, New England Patriots

Let’s get the band back together! Oh, which band you ask? The legendary 2014 Cleveland Browns — featuring starting quarterback Brian Hoyer and offensive intern Mike LaFleur — that’s who. Yes, that’s a bit of a stretch.

Really, signing Hoyer fits for a lot of the same reasons Henne does. He doesn’t have the need to compete for the starting job anymore, has gained the wisdom of playing around some of the greatest minds in football, and can step in and not be a detriment to his team when needed.

He’s currently assisting a divisional rival in mentoring their own rookie quarterback, a team in which he’s spent three different stints with over his lengthy career but should other options fall through the cracks it’d be wise to at least attempt at bringing Hoyer into the building.
