Think of it besides the old men YA & CC in the early 60's & Namath the lower ny teams have not had a great qb since 1950
Well…. We keep our fingers crossed . With Lawrence, Zach and Fields its so hard to tell simply because none of them had any consistent weapons. Davis is a #2 (and had a lot of drops this year), no TE, Cole, Smith, and Mims are meh…. And I’m not as high as some about Moore. I feel he is more of a slot guy than a WR, and I would like to see him in a Tyreek mold ( although I know the speed isn’t there, but the elusiveness is) . Hopefully they can get Zach weapons he can grow with because he is certainly smart enough (like Brady) to succeed
What's disappointing about Baker Mayfield for me is that he's had both OBJ and Jarvis Landry @ WR (+ a very talented Donovan Peoples-Jones), two pass catching TEs in David Njoku and Austin Hooper, a decent O-Line along with a monster running game being led by a top 3 RB in Nick Chubb (Kareem Hunt too); but yet everytime I've watched him play he's always failed to meet the eye test for me.
I remember just wishing Sam Darnold had the types of Offensive firepower that Baker Mayfield has had; so imo he's a big time NFL disappointment as a former #1 overall draft pick.
I went back and forth about where to put Matt Jones . I ended up putting him there because despite what I really think, the guy actually put up some excellent numbers in his rookie season . I think Him and Lamar will be bumped by Lawrence and Wilson eventually but for now, I gotta give credit where credit is due.
ON EDIT AND AFTER A THOUGHT...
not wishing for it, or saying it's a sure thing to happen, but if the Bolts aren't careful about loading too much too quickly on him, Herbert's situation is similar to Baker's.
I just can't see Herbert being the next Baker. Herbert has physical tools, Baker does not. Baker has always been a douche, Herbert doesn't seem like he is.
agreed on both points. but he is a kid and it seemed like they put the offense on his back, and asked him to carry the load too quickly.
not saying he cannot or will not be able to handle it, just that it seemed too quick to do that. QB is a neck up position, and you want to be certain he has the ability to sort thru the first set of tasks before piling on more.
Thats where I think Herbert is different. Baker started to believe his own hype. I knew the NFL would catch up to him and he is so limited physically.
I agree he needs to show more. next year will be the year to see if he is realDak is overrated. Dallas was a fraud this year and he came up small in almost every big game except opening Thursday in Tampa. Beyond that he didn't beat a playoff caliber team. Dak still doesn't read the field/coverage well enough which leads to the inconsistency when his talented players don't get an obvious win in their matchups
his commercials are hilarious! And what about Baker ?
Not a bust yet
And I love his commercials!!
you can throw Danial Jones in that shit heap pile with Darnold
